ICL and IPL

[edit]

A "programme" of the ICL is the "International Programme on Landslides", or IPL, and for reasons I don't understand yet, a number of ICL activities or publications are branded as IPL, like the World Landslide Forum mentioned in the article. The IPL members are all ICL members, says the IPL site. Confusingly, the ICL website is a subdirectory of the IPL website at http://iplhq.org/, though the latter organization is a subset of the former organization. For what it's worth, as of this writing, Google results from my browser are:

  • international consortium on landslides: About 349,000
  • international programme on landslides: About 3,070,000

It is presumably worth explaining the distinction in the article if someone with knowledge of the organization can contribute. I don't think "International Programme on Landslides" merits its own Wikipedia article, but in any case I have created International Programme on Landslides and International Program on Landslides as redirects to this ICL article, and I've added International Programme on Landslides to the "ICL" disambig page.
