The result of the move request was: Moved to VLDB conference. No opposition to the move, although from [1] it looks like "conference" is not treated as part of a proper noun, so moving to the lower-case version instead of the uppercase per WP:NCCAPS. — Amakuru (talk) 12:01, 24 October 2018 (UTC)
VLDB → VLDB Conference – VLDB stands for Very Large DataBases and is generally penned in capitals. It is inappropriate that a search for this term goes directly to the Conference. By moving the article to the title VLDB Conference this allows for VLDB to become a disambiguation page to Very large Database, VLDB Conference and other things such as VLDB toolbox? and VLDB journal should those be deemed notable and archive a Wikipedia article. There are about a score of valid inbound links currently to VLDB and these would be dealt with before changing VLDB from a redirect from aVLDB Conference redirect to a DAB, though changing them to the existing redirect International Conference on Very Large Data Bases would be an alternative Djm-leighpark (talk) 07:40, 4 October 2018 (UTC) --Relisting. - Comment "Is that beautiful or what!?" ... with apologies to Dick Strawbridge as he was prod'd off of wikiquote. Oh sweet correlations! Even on the monthlies. But what does this mean? Does it mostly everyone who selected VLDB actually wanted to goto Very Large Databases? Or vice versa. Now if only the relister had gone non-neutral and conjectured an explanation. ... But relister has simply left the teaser. Wonder how much is also down to BOTs and crawlers? I must confess I suspect very few people actually search for Very Large DataBase so my betting would be most people wanting the Very large database article actually go to the VLDB first then decide they want Very large database from the hatnote; and if that is the case it supports a move followed by a DAB conversions. But that is a conjecture not a proof with more detailed analysis sensor data being available.Djm-leighpark (talk) 13:19, 11 October 2018 (UTC)

Moved. See general agreement below to rename this article as requested. Kudos to editors for your input, and Happy Publishing! (nac by page mover) Paine Ellsworth, ed. put'r there 17:43, 15 April 2019 (UTC)
It was proposed in this section that VLDB conference be renamed and moved to International Conference on Very Large Data Bases.

VLDB conference → International Conference on Very Large Data Bases – This appears to be the offical name used by all of the individual conferences. Many more search results on Google for this name than the current one. It was even brought up as an alternative option during the last RM. - Comment:
Neutral:I may have been involved in last requested move. I'm only saying neutral because I can't see any reason to oppose it and I might have to look at it longer to move to support and therefore I'm leaving it to others. Certainly at first glance looks a good move and my main issue was getting this article off of VLDB.Djm-leighpark (talk) 12:28, 19 March 2019 (UTC) - Comment: My general Google results show a few more for "VLDB Conference" than "International Conference on Very Large Data Bases", both about 100 (not counting images). I get about 50% MORE for "International Conference on Very Large Databases". For Google Scholar, "International Conference on Very Large Data Bases" has "About 46,300 results" (did go out at least to page 100, meaning at least 1000 results), "VLDB Conference" has half of that, and "International Conference on Very Large Databases" half again. - Move to VLDB Endowment so the high-level focus is on the organization, but that the conference and the journal can be covered within. -- Netoholic @ 02:46, 27 March 2019 (UTC)
- Relisting comment - I'm giving this one more week, as there are two alternative proposals on the table, so if Netoholic, StrayBolt and EggRoll97 can agree which one to go for that would be useful. Thanks — Amakuru (talk) 13:00, 4 April 2019 (UTC)
- Comment @Amakuru: I'm not involved here, I won't be making decisions on "which one to go for, as I originally relisted this. EggRoll97 (talk) 13:22, 4 April 2019 (UTC)
- @EggRoll97: ah apologies, I misread the line above while I was editing and thought you were the original proposer. I mean to ping Oneforfortytwo. Thanks — Amakuru (talk) 13:29, 4 April 2019 (UTC)

- Weak oppose: (VLDB Endowment) .. just sounds wrong ... otherwise Neutral per above. I'd note from Talk:Manjaro#Move et. al. that WP:COMMONNAME seems preferred to official name.Djm-leighpark (talk) 14:19, 4 April 2019 (UTC)
- Weak support to full name based on Google Scholar result above, but I would still type "VLDB Conf…" (WP:CRITERIA). The Journal, Endowment (and Proceedings) could all be sections. Anywhere it moves (or not), seems like there needs to be many redirects. StrayBolt (talk) 16:14, 4 April 2019 (UTC)
- Support - WP:ACRONYMTITLE and WP:TITLEFORMAT both suggest that an acronym should be used only if it's much more recognizable even to people moderately familiar with the subject than the real name. I think it's a hard case to make that "VLDB" is more recognizable as something about lots of data than "Very Large Database". Safrolic (talk) 03:27, 11 April 2019 (UTC)
- Remember that the case is not between "VLDB" and "Very Large Database"; it is between "VLDB conference" and "International Conference on Very Large Data Bases". StrayBolt (talk) 22:29, 13 April 2019 (UTC)
- Comment My non-binary preference is "VLDB Conference" where the individual events are listed with the acronym and the year, "VLDB 2019". Here are more search results: On vldb.org, Google search shows about 50/50 between "VLDB Conference" and "VLDB conference". Perhaps the variations might be influenced by usage (e.g. "VLDB conference series") or by cultural preference in using title case vs sentence case. The usage in books (up to 2008) shows the full formal name is most likely used (ngrams limits to 5 words). StrayBolt (talk) 22:53, 13 April 2019 (UTC)
- Support: The proposed name is more recognizable and formal. It seems like the way the conference would be cited in any formal publication, as the name of the conference rather than as an informal description of the conference. The reason it might not show up more dominantly in searches might be abbreviation – e.g., "Intl. Conf. on Very Large Data Bases" or perhaps that "Data Bases" is sometimes rendered as "Databases". The proposed title seems more consistent with the way most articles about conferences are titled on Wikipedia. —BarrelProof (talk) 11:49, 14 April 2019 (UTC)
