Misleading

[edit]

This seems to confuse (conflate?) two functions: IANA run by Postel and Reynolds which assigned the numbers, and the NIC, run by Jake Feinler which kept the databases and distributed the documents. Will try to fix according to sources. W Nowicki (talk) 21:35, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

What happened to it after 1998?

[edit]

It is unclear from this article what happened to InterNIC after 1998. Does it even exist nowadays? If it still exists, it raises even more questions.

The Network Information Center (NIC), also known as InterNIC from 1993 until 1998, ...

Does it switch back to its former name or acquired a new name after 1998?

... was the internet governing body primarily responsible for domain name allocations and X.500 directory services.

Does it still has other functions after no longer being responsible for domain name allocations etc. ? --Quest for Truth (talk) 21:33, 16 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
