Sounds like High and Dry

[edit]
  • I don't know if anyone ever brought this up in the news, but really, this song has almost the exact same rhythm guitar as Radiohead's song High and Dry; and since the latter was released first, it really is possible that it was at least unconsciously ripped off. Fair use rationale for Image:Shakirainevitable.JPG

[edit]

Image:Shakirainevitable.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 03:44, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator
  • Just in case some bot reports something: Tony235 is the 8th editor of the article by number of edits, but he made most of his contributions to it in a single edit. Also, the top editor Luisnh1210 only made 8 edits, just 5 more than Tony235, and that was in 2012. So, this is not a drive-by nomination, Tony235 made a valid nomination. And now that we got that out of the way, on with the review...
Lead and infobox
  • File:Shakirainevitable.jpg is a non-free image with a valid license, but the source site has been usurped since the upload (and, by the URL, it seems it was a forum). What about replacing it with a source to a more official site, such as the artist or the label?
  • "...a song by Colombian singer-songwriter Shakira". It's enough with "singer", especially as the writing of the lyrics of mentioned later.
Background and composition
  • "...the United States Latin music market." Better link to Latin American music in the United States.
  • Apple music is a music streaming service, and not much of a reference for anything. The reference from Allmusic should be useful.
  • "“Inevitable” revolves around a woman's honesty to her former lover that she cannot accept that their relationship has ended, and the monotony of life that she has to face afterwards" The first reference does not discuss the lyrics, only considers the song a classic.
  • "The genre has been variously described as Latin rock, rock en español, and sentimental ballad." The references to Latin Rock and Sentimental ballad do not actually say that.
  • "Described by Billboard as a “heartbreak song”, musical instrumentals used in “Inevitable” include guitars, which in the beginning play calmly before becoming explosive." Again, none of that is in the reference.
Release and reception
  • An extra review may be better. Just one seems a bit too few
  • "Commercially, “Inevitable” appeared in the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart for twelve weeks, peaking at the third position." Again, the reference does not say that.
  • "Singer Gloria Estefan, a guest on the show, said that Shakira had reminded her of Janis Joplin." The reference is ""Latina". Latina. 1999. p. 78." If you're going to cite an offline magazine, cite the number, or at least the month. There have surely been at least 12 "Latina" magazine issues in 1999.
  • "In 2000, “Inevitable” was recognized as an award-winning song..." That sounds as if the song was already award-winning and they finally acknowledged it, rather than that they awarded it.
Legacy
  • "...as “demonstrating her wisdom beyond her years”. The reference does not mention that.
  • "Retrospective critics have also equally positive of the music video. Rolling Stone..." You have already mentioned that article in the previous paragraph.
Other
  • The article still has a stub tag at the bottom.

The article is short, but there are way too many references that do not reference the text, being a noticeable portion of the article. Cambalachero (talk) 17:34, 15 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
