Kanza
[edit]Seeking opinion from @Brigade Piron, and all those who wish to interject:
The article, in the "Lyrics" section, identifies the various politicians listed by surname in the song. I'm assuming this is just speculation on the part of whoever wrote that part of the article, and I by no means wish to challenge its inclusion, as it seems appropriate. However, I do think we have a dilemma on our hands concerning the surname "Kanza." The article asserts that Kanza refers to Thomas Kanza. For the record, Thomas Kanza was involved in the organization of the Congolese Round Table Conference, and personally extended the formal invitation for African Jazz to come and perform during the event. But I think Kanza could also refer to Daniel Kanza, Thomas' father, who was a leader of the ABAKO party and actually participated in the Round Table negotiations. The Kanza family itself was very involved in politics, but I think that the song could only possibly be referring to either Thomas or Daniel. Personally, I think Daniel is more likely the answer. Any opinions? Indy beetle (talk) 10:37, 21 November 2016 (UTC)
- Update I think I can confirm that they were referring to Daniel. The song goes "Mbuta Kanza", and Daniel Kanza is the only Kanza as far as I know with Mbuta sometimes included in his name. Indy beetle (talk) 03:56, 15 December 2016 (UTC)

Interesting video
[edit]I can't speak French, but this video produced by MONUSCO has some testimony from some of the musicians who recorded the song: [2]
