Early music?

[edit]

"Il Giardino Armonico is a pioneering Italian early music ensemble [..snip..] primarily to play 17th and 18th century music"

I'm not an expert in this area at all, but can an ensemble that mostly plays music from the 17th and 18th century really be said to be an "early music" ensemble? There is a wiki page on early music that puts the end of the "early music" period at around 1600. -- Scratchy 02:08, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Scratchy,
I agree with you. I think the author is referring to "Historically Informed Performance" (Historically_informed_performance), not "early music."
Thanks!
