Hi, I think it would make sense to make this page "Iwo Eleru" and then rewrite slightly so that the page is for the site itself, with extended description of the cranium found there included. I think this makes sense, and will make it easier for people to find. Any objections? Ninafundisha (talk) 14:30, 2 February 2022 (UTC)
I agree, but the article says that the name of the site is disputed. This would need to be sorted out before any page name change. Dudley Miles (talk) 19:10, 2 February 2022 (UTC)
Thanks @Dudley Miles:. I'm not sure what the Wikipedia convention is for site names that were probably incorrectly transcribed by early archaeologists - I have no trouble believing that Iwo Eleru is incorrect (as the cited papers note), but the vast majority of the archaeological literature for the site refers to that old incorrect name. I know they've had similar discussions about Olduvai/Oldupai Gorge but I'm not sure what to do here. I'd probably vote to go with the new name in the Scerri et al paper and have Iwo Eleru redirect?
