Article should be rewritten
The article sounds like it was written by an 8-year-old, in my opinion. Just read the Carly Shay blurb and you'll likely see what I mean. (24.47.88.195 (talk) 21:16, 6 January 2008 (UTC))
i agree, but since i don't watch the show i cant do it.

I don't know if the teacher played by Sterling is a primary or secondary character so I listed her under secondary for now. Besides the brother, she's the only adult with a semi-important role. I think Nick said she was thirteen. Plus, shows are filmed about a year before they air, so she would be thirteen then. Again, I heard it from Nick. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.130.83.211 (talk) 23:09, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

No, actually, Freddie, Carly, and Sam are all 13. Nowhere has it said when their birthdays are. Think about this. Once Bread becomes toast, you can't make it back into bread. (talk) 09:19, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

No. you are seriously mistaken and I am correct. Sam, Carly, and Freddie are all 13. It is said that they are in 8th grade. That is the last year of Junior High School. They can't be 14. Well, I suppose they could, but everybody with sense knows that most 14 year olds are just starting high school,....unless they got held back. How do you know their birthdays ? They're not said in the episodes. That's the only real authority for info about the show. Think about this. Once Bread becomes toast, you can't make it back into bread. Their birthdays are somewhere in that year!!! :DDDDD FamFragoso42 (talk) 21:10, 3 September 2008 (UTC)FamFragoso42FamFragoso42 (talk) 21:10, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

Fansites

- Why no fan sites? I think they are a part of what should be added as external links. Some of these sites contain items like vid captures, photos, and other tidbits of info you won't find anywhere else. The presence of them also shows how popular a show is. If you're not going to have them then change the directory heading to Offical Site Links. Ajhunt 13:22, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
- Mostly because fansites do not meet the wikipedia requirements of being a reliable source of information (WP:RS). Too much rumor, speculation and just incorrect information in them to used. Also wikipedia is not a links directory (WP:NOT#LINK). The external links don't need to be "official". They just need to be to things that are reliable but can't be in wikipedia because of formatting or other practical concerns. If the content can be in the article, the content should be and the link used as a reference, not an external link. (WP:LINKS) --NrDg 14:16, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Fansites don't count as references, and they do not belong in the External Links section. The only fansites that could be put there are official fansites, i.e. endorsed by Nickolodeon or the creator of iCarly. Armiris (talk) 03:25, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Nobody touch the episode list, it cites that it is from the iCarly Episode list page so why keep deleting it? (Jonapello22 (talk) 20:46, 18 February 2008 (UTC))
- I deleted it because that information is totally redundant with the episode list article. The purpose of an list of episodes article is to REMOVE that information from the main article. I you have episode information to add, put it in the proper article. --NrDg 21:10, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

- We have an article called List of iCarly episodes. The purpose of that article is to list all the episode information and remove it from the main article. This is the way Wikipedia organizes show articles. That article is like an other page to this article. Episode information DOES NOT BELONG in this article. It must go where it belongs. It will continue to be removed from this article if it gets added back. Please spend your time and efforts on improving the proper article for the information you have. --NrDg 21:30, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
When it comes to episode titles, should TV Guide/imdb be followed or the site? On all the guides for television, episode 1.18 is known as iGot a Sponsor but on iCarly.com, it is shown as iPromote Tech-Foots. I have been trying to follow what my television guide shows but after others have been changing it, I am not sure what should be followed. Sugarcream (talk) 17:10, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
- If there is a conflict between reliable sources it is best to list both with a reference for each. Normally the official site is the authoritative reference but might not have been updated. TV Guide and TV.com are what is published though. Nothing is perfectly accurate and unless the show itself has the title embedded we can't know for sure. --NrDg 18:05, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

Spin off?
iCarly is in the category "Television spin-offs". Is it a spin-off though? I know Miranda Cosgrove plays Megan in Drake and Josh but in iCarly she plays Carly. It's a completly different character. Is iCarly a spin-off of something else and I'm just not aware? There is no mention in the article of it being a spin-off. So if it is, someone should include that in the article, and if it is not, someone should take it out of the "spin-off" category. --Melboy (talk) 20:28, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
Its only a spinoff because of spencer who was crazy steve in drake and josh which because of the two characters led it to be believed as a spinoff, but yes i agree it shouldnt be a spinoff. (Jonapello22 (talk) 20:59, 18 February 2008 (UTC))

Can we please make it so that you have to speak english to edit english Wikipages ? It really ticks me off to have to in and correct multitudes of mistakes over and over, often the same mistakes that people put back after I fix them. It's so annoying. Unless you speak english, don't come in the english section. There's sections for your language, I'm sure. Think about this. Once Bread becomes toast, you can't make it back into bread. (talk) 20:07, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
- You can't make a statement like that. Wikipedia welcomes anybody, and even if the grammar is bad, it is still an addition. Helpful editors like you fix it - Wikipedia is a work in progress, after all. --haha169 (talk) 00:44, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
I can make whatever statements I damn well please. Anybody who has bad grammar is bit soft in the head. It doesn't take that much effort to write correctly. If someone who doesn't speak english well, then they should stick to the wikipages that are for their language. We do agree on one point, though. Even if the grammar is bad, it IS an addition. An extremely annoying, pointless, waste of editing time to put into correct language addition. Think about this. Once Bread becomes toast, you can't make it back into bread. (talk) 22:38, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
- Well then go correct it yourself. Instead of sitting here complaining, if you used that time, you could have corrected half the character list. Your "catch phrase" about the bread and the toast is related to this situation - once you waste your time, you can't get it back again. So instead of mumbling around, go fix it. --haha169 (talk) 23:32, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
I DO change it. But somebody that doesn't at all speak english keeps putting it back so that it makes absolutely no sense. It gets incredibly annoying to have to keep correcting people. Don't edit pages that aren't in your language. I don't speak russian, greek, or spanish....so I have no business editing anything written in those languages. Think about this. Once Bread becomes toast, you can't make it back into bread. (talk) 05:27, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
- That's most likely because you don't care about those Wikis. Being the most popular Wikipedia does have its problems. You must know that. --haha169 (talk) 21:10, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
- Spotted Feather - In the past MONTH you have only edited this article once. And you claim to have attempted fixed it, but they get "reverted" Excuse me? I don't believe its possible to revert a non-existent edit. --haha169 (talk) 21:12, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
Actually, I edit the iCarly pages at least 3 times a week. I correct things that non english speakers change into gibberish. And I also, constantly, correct the repeated changing of episode titles. Someone keeps putting up a wrong title and I keep putting it back. And as for you thinking that I only edited the articles once, for some reason, Wiki doesn't always remember my info and keep me logged in like it's supposed to. Think about this. Once Bread becomes toast, you can't make it back into bread. (talk) 08:41, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

Looking through the comments here and at Talk:ICarly.com, it seems that there are ten users who support the merger, and two users who are against the merger. The general consensus is that the articles should be merged. The main argument against the merger is that the iCarly.com article is too large to be merged; however, looking through the article, it seems that most of the information is relatively unencyclopedic to begin with. Therefore, I'm going to go ahead with the merger; if you disagree with this or have any objections, please note them below or go ahead and modify my edits. 青い(Aoi) (talk) 00:46, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
- I just merged the two articles together. I found much of the information to be unencyclopedic; however, that's just my opinion. Thanks! 青い(Aoi) (talk) 01:04, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

Editing Blocked, Vandalism Remains
Despite the fact that editing is not allowed, I notice that someone decided it would be funny to write that the actors of the show are people like Charlie Chaplin who have been dead for 50 years. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.143.241.233 (talk) 14:01, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

You should mention that Joe Jonas from the Jonas Brothers was watching Icarly in one of his photos! It would be a cool fact to write down. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.140.46.83 (talk) 23:48, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
- I remember that from the TV.com boards, but this would not be a good place for this because of the fact that the powers that be on Wikipedia tend to frown upon trivia UNLESS it can be integrated into the main article. - I think you need to read WP:NOT a little bit more closely, especially the part about how Wikipedia is not a collection of indiscriminate information. There is absolutely no importance to what Joe Jonas watches, and, in the case of someone whose life is as carefully managed as Joe Jonas, it certainly isn't a coincidence that he was watching a Disney program: it's more likely carefully staged marketing. The due weight of such a factoid is zero: there is no reason to mention it in the article.Kww (talk) 23:55, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

- Always a shame to have a good point undermined by a pesky thing like a fact. My essential point remains valid: there is no way to distinguish fact from fiction when dealing with someone whose public image is tightly controlled. Someone decided to pose Joe Jonas in front of a laptop displaying iCarly. Was it Joe? Maybe. Did the iCarly producers pay someone for the promotion? Perhaps. Was it photoshopped into the laptop after the photograph was taken, because he was browsing the web and people thought a Google search screen looked boring? Perhaps. No way to tell, and not very important besides.Kww (talk) 15:20, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

Length of season two
The only source we've got for season two being 45 episodes - almost twice the length of a traditional season - is an interview with a cast memeber. Is this confirmed anywhere else? —C.Fred (talk) 17:40, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
- This is just a rumor they are spreading. Nickelodeon says that icarly is filming season 3 right now. so, since the tv season is over until the fall, the season finale will be between this month or next month, take a break, and start season 3 in september or october because this season is not supposed to have 45 episodes to begin with. Thisis all because of the writer's strike of 2007-2008. Does that answer your question? I'm Elie Muller, and i say you're welcome to your thank you to me. The DVD boxset of season 2 labels the current episodes as "Volume 1" Which means about half the season, if it follows iCarly season 1, as well as other TV shows. It goes up to iTake on Dingo, (It doesnt count iDate a Bad Boy, to my knowledge that wont even come in Volume 2, but a seperate DVD). Which means we should SUSPECT there's about 20 more episodes left, if they leave the whole Volume 1 = Half a season intact. However, this means we should either keep updating the episode count on the front page as they air, or put TBA. Myzou (talk) 10:49, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, but just so you know this. There was only 20 episodes for season 2. So, likely, there would be 10 episodes for volumes season 2 editon for each. Also, it would be likely that there would be 25 episodes for season 3. Season 3 of icarly will air this september. So, Obviously i was right all along. - The problem with most of the comments here is that there's conjecture, drawing conclusions, synthesis, or otherwise making assumptions based on tidbits of information—except for one interview with a cast member who said 45 episodes. (Personally, I think he meant a total episode count of 45, but again, that's me drawing conclusions.) Nothing goes in the article that isn't verifiable. That means we're stuck with 45 episodes in season 2 until a reliable source says otherwise. —C.Fred (talk) 00:47, 25 July 2009 (UTC)
That's not right at all because nathan kress said that season 3 of icarly will air in september. So, now we know for sure when season 3 of icarly will air. However, the episodes dan schneider wrote for icarly is for season 3 not season 2. The 2nd season of icarly has been done filming. The 3rd season of icarly has just begun filming just 2 months ago. So, by this time next month, then, I'm right this time. We better get some information on this quickly. Thank you very much, Elie Muller. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.53.133.102 (talk) 16:15, 25 July 2009 (UTC)
like i said nathan said season 3 but ment season 2. it happens to everyone. also than why is ibeat the heart production code 242 and not 3 something. i also tryed to contact danb but he has not responed. also on http://starrymag.com/content.asp?ID=3909&CATEGORY=INTERVIEWS nathan states we are tring to do forty-five episodes for season tw. so like C.Fred (talk) said we're stuck with 45 episodes in season 2 until a reliable source says otherwise. even though the season 2 volume one dvd is out yet, you could try to find how many episodes are in it. it will tell us about how many episodes in season 2. like i said not all seasons have to start in september. suite life is starting season two in augest and the zack and cody 3 season started in June. so seasons can sttart in other months. we won't know how many episodes are in season 2 dvd comes out. if the dvd has 10-12 episodes than season 2 will have about 24 episodes for season 2. that's if they split the season in two. now if the dvd has 20-22 episodes than season 2 will have 45 episodes in the season. also igo to japan was filmed april last year an the episodes iTwins was filmed in Feburary and iFight Shelby Marx was filmed in Jan of dec. 232 - iSaved Your Life was filmed in april and 236 iFind Lewbert's Lost Love was filmed in may. so they are still doing season two. you most likely need to get enough people to contact and and he might tell us what's going on. The icarly show will start season 3 in september. So, I'm 100% right this time. I'll tell you one more time for these. 1: We don't know when the victoria justice show will air or if they picked up the pilot. 2: The icarly show is filming season 3 right now. I mean, drake and josh got the 2 seasons split in the first 2 years. And most importantly: 3: Listen, fanala.com heard what nathan kress said that icarly season 3 will air this fall, and the icarly crew are filming season 3 right now. Agian,we don't know altough it does seem to make sense for ifight shelby marx to be the last of season 2,since testing true was the season 1 finale of True Jackson VP. Also if you count iGo to Japan as 3,iDate a Bad boy as 2, And iFight Shelby Marx as 2,season 2 has had 25 episodes, the same number as season 1.But season 1 would have had 45 , but didn't because of the writer's strike,so why would season 2 be differnt , with no writer's strike?Retro Dog 16:53, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
Product Placement
I'm a little surprised that the article completely ignores the blatant product placement in the shows. For instance the show has on many occasions centered the plot or a subplot around a particular fictional product with a name or logo barely different from a real product; (ShamWow, Starbucks, Apple etc.) The name itself is a reference to the apple company. This is a very important aspect of the show (and in my opinion Product Placement directed at young viewers is the only reason the show exists) and should be included in the article. The show also makes subtle attacks at PC;s. For instance in the episode "iTake on Dingo", one will notice that the writing staff for "Totally Teri" (The antagonists) have computers with the same logo on the back, a logo that bears a striking resemblance to the logo for the Dell computer company, where as the iCarly crew (the protagonists) all use "pear" products (An obvious reference to apple). Signed DocMock —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.56.28.66 (talk) 01:56, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
- The problem is, is it product placement? Reverse placement? Parody of existing brands? Or just an attempt to add an element of realism beyond a no-logo computer? TVWeek notes "Since no product placement is allowed on kids TV, they use gadgets like a laptop with a pear logo."[2] I don't know that what they're doing is anything different than fake brands on other shows. If you can point to an article that has researched the issue and says otherwise, we can see about including it. —C.Fred (talk) 02:28, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
Drake and Josh had that too, with the "Pintendo GS" and "Gamesphere". I'd say it's a parody meant to add some realism to the show. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.3.142.53 (talk) 22:12, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
It's hardly a parody. It's an obvious and blatant attempt to side step laws against advertising directly at children. They use similar logos that people would be able to recognize even though they aren't the same. A kid goes to the store to get a computer and he's had the pear logo rammed down his throat, so he wants the computer with the fruit on it. Even if it's not the same logo you know what it is, there for it is indirect advertising of the product, hence product placement. But it's not indirect, since the people who include these products in the show intend for viewers to realize what products they are representing. Hence, direct advertising through indirect means. I may not be a Ph.D but the bachelors course in advertising I took in college taught me enough to recognize product placement when I see it.-The Dude —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.77.197.16 (talk) 02:08, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
I think that it is just a bunch of jokes that focus around popular products or t.v. stations (the Dingo channel/the Disney channel) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Neoshadow1billion (talk • contribs) 00:04, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
I agree completely with DocMock and "The Dude", it's definitely product placement, and naivety to think otherwise.
It's definitely NOT product placement, because the show is legally obliged to disclose product placement in the credits "Promotional consideration provided by....., ect" . Its not placement, it is an attempt to avoid being called out for product placement by featuring the real product. Col. Moutarde (talk) 00:37, 28 September 2009 (UTC)

A trivia section should be necessary here
If there's no trivia section, then we wouldn't be able to explain Nevelocity and Nevelocity.com all redirecting to iCarly. It would seem misleading. Any input on this? -- Myfavouritecolourispink 20:23, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
- On the one hand, Wikipedia:Trivia sections is the guideline in play here. Trivia sections are to be avoided. That said, Nevelocity is already mentioned in the article (see iCarly#Website). It doesn't need a second mention. —C.Fred (talk) 20:35, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

Dingo Channel = Disney Channel?
I understand that there are no references outside of the episode that suggest Dingo Channel is a parody of Disney Channel. Truthfully, there is no need for a reference. It's painfully obvious that Disney Channel is being parodied. Dan Schneider has also posted a comment to the LiveJournal community, "GroovySmoothie", explaining that Disney Channel had a meeting, where they discussed ways to take down iCarly. I'm not kidding. I have the comment screen capped. Disney's newest series, JONAS, is the lowest-rated Disney show in four years. When JONAS went head-to-head against iDate a Bad Boy, they got trampled in the ratings. Dan Schneider is not a bad guy, but he decided to poke fun at Disney. Ergo, the Dingo Channel. I've been adding this for a while and it keeps getting deleted. It's not irrelevant to the series, and frankly, you don't need to be a rocket scientist to see it. Candy coated doom (talk) 01:14, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

I am seeing this show for the first time, and I wondered if this is a Party of Five kind of show with no parents. I mean, this girl gets to run around with no supervision, so I thought I would come to the page to find out if I was seeing that wrong. This page needs to explain the parenting, IMO. Hate to sound like an overprotective parent, just want to see how Nick explains this apparent abandonment. CodeCarpenter (talk) 21:42, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

In the episode iPie when Carly and the other are chasing Sam you hear a door slam off screen and Spencer says that she locked herself in the bathroom but then the elevator door opens and Sam walks out with the empty pie tin. Whats up with that?

ICarly was still on Nickelodeon and The N channel. ICarly was still since 2 years has been started in 2007 make a new episode of ICarly by this year Season 3. Broadcast history (removed section)
User:Thewtfchronicles removed this "Broadcast history" section from the article, saying, "this section is irrelevant as it's covered in the infobox." However, as far as I can see, the information in this section is not duplicated in the infobox or anywhere else in the article. I reverted his removal once, but he reverted my reversion, stating, "the section is NOT needed."
The section is copied below:
- Nickelodeon (September 8, 2007 - Present)
- TEENick (September 8, 2007 - February 2, 2009)
- The N (September 8, 2007 - August 13, 2009)
- TeenNick (October 18, 2009 - Present)
Thewtfchronicles, could you please elaborate why you don't feel this information is necessary? 青い(Aoi) (talk) 06:35, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
You seriously think listing the length of its airing on sister networks is notable? If it was international, sure, but sure as hell not this. Thewtfchronicles (talk) 06:46, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

Special guest stars
I would suggest heavily trimming this section. Most of them are not special guest stars, and were added just because they were previously on Disney Channel. Ωphois 10:32, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
Cancellation rumor
A few months back there was apparently a widespread rumor that iCarly was being cancelled, allegedly based upon a remark made by Nathan Kress to a magazine. I think this should be mentioned in the article for a few reasons. First, there are many websites that are still reporting this (now debunked) rumor, so it's a chance to inject some accuracy; second, if Kress was quoted accurately, even if incorrect, it's a legitimate bit of information; third, apparently the rumor stemmed from a joke made by a guy hosting a Fred-like webshow, which amps up the irony factor considerably. Do a Google search for "icarly cancelled" and you'll find dozens if not hundreds of links relating to this rumor. I agree cancellation rumors for TV shows are a dime a dozen, and considering the show's ongoing popularity I doubt they'll pull the plug anytime soon (at least not as long as Cosgrove wants to keep doing it), but considering the theme of the series, the nature of this rumor is notable. 68.146.81.123 (talk) 15:08, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

SD vs. HD
Xizer, please do not remove cited information. If you feel that all the episodes are HD, then please discuss here. Ωphois 13:06, 27 November 2009 (UTC)
- I cannot find a formal page stating that iCarly season 1 & 2 was filmed in 1080i other than TV listings on Nickelodeon HD for these episodes but I do not have 150 GB of 1080i captures for no reason. Still, no source is better than a source that has nothing to do with the subject at hand. DVD listings are irrelevant and not suitable to determine what definition or aspect ratio something was filmed in. If you went to any movie's page and said it was shot in 4:3 and then linked to the Amazon page for the full screen DVD release you would be laughed off the site. I don't care if you think cited information is better or not. It is worthless if it is cited incorrect information. If we are going to start allowing false information on Wikipedia just because it has a flimsy source we might as well start citing The Onion.

Arbitrary section break
Please remember that to cite information in an article, it should be traceable back to reliable secondary sources. Looking at the resolution from an actual downloaded episode off your hard drive is primary sourcing (and goes very close to the realm of original research).
Best would be to find a review of the show which mentions that the show was filmed in HD either for its entire run or starting in season 3. Next best would be finding information from the studio/production company about the resolution of shooting. Next best would be the information on released copies—since it is possible that the show was shot in higher resolution than it was released.
I also note that IMDB, while not reliable, is also silent on the issue of shooting resolution.
Accordingly, under the guideline of verifiability, I have reverted the text of the article to the sourced text before Xizer's bold changes. The changes were good-faith but have been challenged. Accordingly, some form of compromise or consensus must be reached before any further changes are made. —C.Fred (talk) 18:19, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

This is counting season one: 25 episodes season 2: 24 and season 3: 21 episodes. Also by counting iGo to Japan: 3 episodes + iDate a Bad Boy: 1 episodes + iFight Shelbry Marx: 2 episodes, iquite: 2 episodes and iPsycho (has not aired yet) as 2 episodes.
