I can not answer that directly, But how many people have you known of that have had a US military instalation named in their honor? That might have something to do with it.Meyerj (talk) 15:39, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

I cannot answer why the Army chose to name an installation after this officer. I know that he made major shortly after making captain. I have talked with other officers who served with Casey and thought he pretty much came close to walking on water. His death in and aviation accident while serving as the Division Commander's aide de camp (a captain's billet) must have some bearing on it and we will just have to wait and see what others write.
