Hope City Church Wikipedia page
[edit]I am trying to create this page well with encyclopedic content that is proved and notable. If you have any suggestions or ideas I would be glad to hear them as I am not very experienced on Wikipedia. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sarahdunys (talk • contribs) 14:31, 18 June 2013 (UTC)
Conflict of Interest
[edit]User Adam Bond has apparent COI and is employed by the Church. User has removed "controversy" section in the past and has been warned not to do so. PureRED (talk) 02:13, 11 August 2017 (UTC)
This page has a lot of edits by people on the Hope City payroll, who, on numerous occasions have deleted and tweaked controversy and criticism section to minimize issues or hide them altogether. This IP address is also hosted by Hope City: 80.252.74.114
Hi, having spoken with the people who were on staff at Hope City, they understand the need to work with Wikipedia and i believe they have shown a better understanding of the platform. I hope you can see that have done and are continuing to do so and therefore ask if top banner is able to be removed to show there renewed understanding. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jumanji92 (talk • contribs) 09:59, 21 August 2018 (UTC)
Hope City Academy
[edit]Hope City Academy was launched in 1992. Hope City Academy is based in Sheffield. Hope City Academy is a 1-2 year leadership course offering training and as well as practical training in chosen electives. The Academy also has a School of Leadership which operates in South-east Asia as well as Accra in Africa.

Hope City Music
[edit]It is my belief that there needs to be a section on the church's musical wing, but given the lack of independent references available, it cannot at this time be introduced onto the main page as user Theroadislong has highlighted (through edits), it was previously written in such a way as to promote. Wikipedia is NOT a platform to promote material of any kind, only to inform. Should relevant external (to the church controlled websites) sources (i.e news articles not based of press releases) be sourced, a somewhat clinical mention can be made, provided that there is no attempt to link to the material itself, only to mention it's existence & let users go fetch if they want to.

Remove multiple issues warning in header. Issues relate to 3 years ago and since then it's fair to say the site has been properly edited and maintained by correct users adhering to Wiki guideline. Chrismdenham (talk) 08:38, 17 May 2019 (UTC)
- Not done the very last edit here [1] shows that conflict of interest editing is still rife. Theroadislong (talk) 09:09, 17 May 2019 (UTC)
Page Needs Cleaning Up as Factually Out of Date following significant changes this year
[edit]Following some significant changes this year the current article is out of date in a number of key areas. The issue is citing references as most of the changes are not necessarily linkable so I will leave it to Wikieditors to best determine how to make the page factually correct. I am one of the Executive Pastors at the church which is why I am requesting the changes and not editing. It would be helpful if the page could be cleaned to remove the banner at top too as we are happy for a factual page to exist. Changes we suggest:
Edits to Opening paragraph:
[edit]Remove: "by Dave and Jenny Gilpin who left Australia after viewing the Hillsborough Disaster in Sheffield." as this couple is no longer connected with the church after being asked to resign. Remove "The church holds services and weekday connections in 12 locations." the only source for this is our website and this is changing due to circumstances. We suggest remove as unnecessary.
Edits to ORGANISATION
[edit]HISTORY Add: "Dave & Jenny Gilpin resigned from leadership in June 2020 at the request of Trustees." Cite: https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/black-lives-matter-racist-church-leaders-agree-to-stand-down-rbpd9768f
LEADERSHIP: This section should reflect the current leadership and not historical leadership - that should be in the History section. Also there is no need to 'promote' Dave & Jenny Gilpin's books or skills. Current leadership can be defined as follows:
"The church is led by our leadership team made up of Lead Pastors in each location, supported by the Trustees" Cite: https://hopecity.church/about-us/ Cite: https://us9.campaign-archive.com/?u=4592cf43eaad8f5efa186d992&id=9b55e8affd
MINISTRIES I suggest removing this sub-section as most of these no longer exist. If you review the church website you will find only Whizz Kids mentioned.
WAVERLEY DEVELOPMENT This has been scrapped as per the start of this year. Whole section can be deleted.
CITY HEARTS This charity has now separated from Hope City Church and is no longer working together. This section should be deleted entirely. Again you will find no connection online now between the two entities as they have gone their separate ways. So if not deleted then the records should state that City Hearts is no longer the charity arm of Hope City Church. Cite: https://cityhearts.global/a-statement-from-city-hearts
Edits to CRITICISM AND CONTROVERSEY
[edit]The City Hearts section here relates to investigations into City Hearts and Dave & Jenny Gilpin as Senior Pastors. This could do with cleaning up to reflect that neither City Hearts or Dave & Jenny are now a part of Hope City Church. I would think this was better suited for the City Hearts page itself.
C3 Church section includes comments cited by an opinion website called C3 Church Watch. This site often posts unfounded and spurious claims. They shouldn't be included as factual.
Thanks for any help you can make. We just want the page to be factual and up-to-date. Chrismdenham (talk) 11:16, 20 November 2020 (UTC)
This is a message to the C3 Hope pastors who keep editing this page to water it down and distance the current 'Church' from the past abuse issues. It wasn't all Dave and Jen, even though they were a major factor in the issues, you have all played a part in this and you still do by continuing with this. There are many many of us regularly warning people about damage you have all done to people's lives. You can edit this page all you want, re-brand and work on your image but the stories will come out eventually and C3 still remains a toxic organisation with toxic teachings. City Hearts still has large numbers of C3 pastors and members in their staff and just changing its link on paper doesn't mean it automatically becomes ethical. It's not over and we're not going to stop whilst you are conning people out of their money through your prosperity teaching and controlling people. We have links with journalists and the discussions are still going on about potential stories to publish. We're watching you, we're listening to the stories people tell us, we're sharing information and so is the media :)
