[edit]

Hong Kong is a city with a large population of 7 million. Besides, it is one of the most densely populated cities in the world. In that circumstance, the major job of Hong Kong Housing Society is to provide enough residential places for the citizens on rather limited lands. The very first thing we should do is to understand HKHS system. In other words, what’s the government’s role, who pays for the construction, how the housing is allocated, etc. How are about each of us does some research on this system and then put what we find together and write a revised page about it? I am particularly interested in the allocation and I can take care of that. How is it?

i restored the intro paragraph to the intro.. just noticed that's how it's done on most other wikipedia pages. hope you don't mind? 0101crystal06 19:01, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Good~ 0101david06 17:08, 45 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think it looks good if we put the text on the left, and image on the right. Think so? 0101david06 17:08, 45 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Is it ok to put more pictures? and I think it doesn't really matter where you put the pictures. Anyway you guys are doing really well. I don't know what to put.... I think I will put some pictures about their work process and thier out put.

I think there is some problmes happening in our article! I ve found some texts that are copy and paste. I don't know who has done that, but I don't think that is allowed.

I think so too.. I haven't write anything new yet, and I have a question. Is it ok to copy and paste with citing? I want to put something about their work done but I don't know how to make sentences. I want to edit some pictures and words from website. I am not sure it is possible or not. Also I just changed some format and grammar.. Hope you guys won't hate it. If you don't like it please feel free to change it!!-0101ariel06-

Ive just found out that the pictures in our article are not allowed to be posted. I was not sure at the beggining so posted a question on the "media copyright questions page", then i got an answer saying "Because there is no real encyclopedic value and may not be used on Wikipedia because (a) it's not free and (b) it cannot be included under our fair use policy

Take it easy! We are doing quite well. As for the text, I don’t think we are doing the copy-and-paste thing. We find the information on the official website, we read it and we digest it, then we post it on wikipedia in our own words. Anyway, this official website is the main source we can refer to. I think what we should do is to avoid copying the whole context, but do some editing. I mean, we can read an article, find out the basic idea and fact, and rewrite it in our own words.

And the images, I don’t have any idea. I will try to contact HKHS and ask if a group of good-hearted students with noble purpose can use the pictures on their webpages. I will do that tomorrow morning. David

I just up loaded something about thier work done and out come. I also up loaded some pictures on there and I changed them... I am not sure it is allowed or not. I like those pictures but I couldn't put them all one by one. If it is not allowed please delete it for me~~0101ariel06

Hey~~

Aabout the images, I just called the HKHS. And I was told that we need to send a formal letter to their communication department via fax to get approval. Just tell them we use those images only for our project and we will get a reply faxed back. However I don't know where to do the fax. Can we do it in CC? David

Ariel, very good pic. It makes our page prettier. David

As we discussed earlier, we cannot copy articles directly from HKHS website. Please do rewrite it in your own words.

keep up the good work everybody~!!! -Jenny-

I sent an email to our TA about the fax thing. Maybe we can use the one at journalism center. David

Do you think it is a good picture? I was afraid that what if you guys don't like it or it isn't allowed and so on. I am so happy that you like it and I will edit some more picture.. I like edit pictures. It is my hobby. Anyway I think we already put lots of things.. Not much things to add.. I will look for more Awards and pictures.... Anyway everybody doing a good job, really nice work. Last thing is David, thank you for asking HKHS for pictures. I think we can use one in journalism center. -Ariel-

Hey, where are all the tables? I remember there were three...

I have received a reply from our TA saying yes we can use the fax machine at journalism center. David

Hi~ How are you doing?

Just back from journalism tutorial. The tutor mentioned some pitfalls that are commonly seen such as too long too general articles, information of little use, copy and paste, etc. We may have some of the problems too. As there are already plenty of information on our page, maybe what we need to do now is to revise it. It's not the quantity but the quality that counts. Let's do it~

I don't know who deleted the table about how to contect them. I made 2 big tables and it's gone now. However there is similar table below. I guess someone deleted it becuase he/she thought there are 2 similar tables there and she/he just leave the simplest one.. Is that right??? I don't know.. and I think organization is much more important than quantity. We have to make it easy to read, easy to find key points and easy to link to other websites or other wiki pages. Let's work on structures, put more pictures and clear writing structures. I think our wiki is bit more easier to read and understand than some other group's one. I think you guys are doing really well!! Cheer up!!!!-ariel-

I just found out that there are many things just copied and pasted in Business part. Do we have to change them or is it ok to leave it like that?

about the tables, there is another group whose whole page was deleted by some senior students from another university, saying that they are shooting advertisements on wiki... you know like the business hour and contact info tables... this may acounts for why our tables are gone^^^^

and the copy and paste, change it. we will all do that bit by bit. it's too much for a single person.

David

Please do not include contact information in an article. See bullet points 2 and 3 under Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not#Wikipedia is not a directory. --Geniac 19:02, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

i deleted sybase IQ section..sorry to whoever wrote it, it just didn't seem to be that valuable to the general idea of HKHS. 0101crystal06 20:39, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

you've all done BRAVO contributions buddies!!!one suggestion from me is that maybe we can try to make our articles seem more coherent from one category to another, since we are doing the job with so many friends, i know it's a lil bit chanllenging, but i think this will strengthen our total effect!;) cheers, 0101cindy06

Well, understand for the contact information and I don't have any newthings to write about and I think IQ section is pretty fair to deleted.. we may make link but not in our article. My friend read it and fist thing he asked me was "ah? what is IQ??? Why it is in this article?" Anyway only 2 days~ I just feel like I did nothing.. -Ariel-

I have deleted the whole table including the contact number... no more advertisement. And also some parts of our articles. Make it short and easy to follow.

Final edit!! Due day tomorrow~~ along with my essay... that kills me. How about we fix a time and have lunch together?? -David-

hi, if you quoted a statement, please insert the proper citation. the page has been categorized as an "article with unsourced statements". 0101crystal06 07:42, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I think I made last changes.. only few minutes left.. There are many people talking about citation and where the sources come from and so on.. so I just found out all the original sources and put the adress of that pages down. I am afraid that I may made the paper massy.. but I think we need some statement about where this sources are come from. If we don't need them then please delete it for all of us. Some other people saying that our webpage looks good and easier to readers to understand. Thank you for your hard works0101ariel06 15:51, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

got a call from HKHS and they insisted an acknowledgement put on our webpage. -David-

Needs cleanup

[edit]

Hi all. Thanks for contributing to the 'pedia. However this article needs to be written in a more encyclopedic manner. Right now it sounds like a rehash of the organization's website and some news articles. The intro is great, but most of the rest needs work. For example, if you are going to talk about "Rental Estate; Rural Public Housing ; Flat-For-Sale", etc, you need to explain what those things are. What is a "Rental Estate" (and why is that capitalized)? Also, almost everything should be in paragraph form; avoid bulleted lists. And all the pictures have problems of one kind or another that need to be addressed. Those things being said, this organization is quite worthy of a wiki article and I'm glad it's here.
