I suggest substitution of "private" for "exclusive" in the first line. See comment at Category talk: Traditional gentlemen's clubs. 45ossington 16:31, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Whilst the club is certainly a private club, it is certainly more than that. The "exclusive" tag is I believe more appropriate because membership was clearly for the colonial ruling classes. it clearly went out of its way to exclude the chinese community until the second half of the 20th century, so clubs don't get much more "exclusive" than that.
