Local Cajuns?
[edit]I'm not sure what the source is for what the local Cajuns call the Honey Island swamp monster, but I live in St. Tammany parish and I happen to be Cajun, I can tell you most of the people of Cajun descent in St. Tammany parish are like me, transplants from other parts of the state. St. Tammany is not part of the Acadian Triangle and has never been considered "Cajun Country". The article seems to suggest there is a long history of this supposed creature in local Cajun lore. I can assure you there is no local Cajun lore in St. Tammany. Perhaps the editor was referring to similar stories from other parts of the state? --Kjrjr (talk) 23:30, 6 March 2013 (UTC)Kjrjr
- I agree that 'local Cajuns' is vague. It would be helpful to have some solid sources for the origins of the term 'Tainted Keitre.' Likewise, the term 'Letiche' is attributed casually across the Web to Native Americans, but details are lacking. Joe Nickel wrote that 'Letiche' was part of Cajun foklore.
