Suggest renaming

[edit]

If you look at Category:LGBT issues and religion, standard naming seems to be "Homosexuality and (name of religion)," as in Homosexuality and Scientology, Homosexuality and Christianity, Homosexuality and Presbyterianism, Homosexuality and Roman Catholicism, Homosexuality and Islam, etc. Articles with the same title format as this one include Quaker views of homosexuality and Anglican views of homosexuality. I suggest we rename to follow the precedent set by the majority of older articles. Fishal 19:26, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know which format is better. Both seem fine to me, but I think we should unify all those articles under a single format. A.Z. 20:20, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Lutheranism Importance

[edit]

I've listed this article as being of mid-level importance largely because it is focused exclusively on the ELCA (whereas the question is broader than just the ELCA), but taking the long view of history this largely a recent issue. If anyone disagrees with my estimate, please feel free to change the importance rating. -- jackturner3 20:26, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The article being exclusively focused on the ELCA should be a matter of quality, not importance. You should rate the article as having less quality, not the topic itself (that is broader than just the ELCA) as being less important. The ideal version of this article will not focus exclusively on the ELCA. A.Z. 03:05, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ideally, yes. However, since this is really only a matter of importance at this particular point in time to Lutherans in the ELCA (and several of the European Churches), due in part to the fact that some Churches (LCMS and its worldwide partners, WELS and its worldwide partners, and the LWF members in Africa) are not likely to even raise the issue anytime soon, I'd say it's importance to world Lutheranism could be pushed too far. In any case, even if the ELCA does ultimately permit non-celibate gay/lesbian rostered leaders, it doesn't look as though it will have as significant impact as the consecration of Gene Robinson in the Episcopal Church (no one is threatening to throw the ELCA out of the LWF if the ELCA does change Visions and Expectations.) -- jackturner3 19:49, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
