Regional ITV Transmission Times in the UK
Not sure of these, but started the list with those I remember. Not sure about lunchtime showings as they moved all over the place during the Gulf War IIRC. I do know the showings were networked in 1999 with 1pm and 5pm screenings. ITV finished with Ep 2840 in June 2000 I think. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.241.156.148 (talk) 17:10, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
Frame rate
Is it just me, or have they tampered with the frame rate? It looks like it has been filmed at 30fps and then converted to 25fps. Can anyone confirm? If yes, then my question is why? Do they do it because they have NTSC audiences? Or do they do it to give it an American "FEEL" about it? Would doing this somehow draw a larger audience, who might associate the framerate to highly successful shows like Dawsons Creek, The O.C. etc, and be subliminally drawn to watch Home & Away? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.45.234.51 (talk • contribs) 09:43, 8 June 2005 (UTC)
They switched to filming in digital in 2004/2005. This gives the show a different look, and is probably what you noticed. TV is broadcast at 25fps regardless of how it was filmed, so filming at 30fps would means you would have to drop every sixth frame, or have everyone moving slower --220.240.3.154 06:45, 3 October 2005 (UTC)
USA/Canada Info
Can someone please remove the bit about a resurgence of interest in the US and Canada - there is no evidence for this. At the very least, it needs a 'citation needed'. If it was so popular in North America, it would be on air. I do not believe for a second the Canadian networks are 'in a battle' over rights to the programme. It was obviously not deemed suffient a ratings success to be retained some years back, so this info is completely bogus.
The overdose of international airing info doesn't help this article much on the whole either; it needs original series premise information (the foster family idea, one which originated from creator Alan Bateman's 'ice-cream' stop in a small town due to get a teen shelter.) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.46.200.76 (talk) 11:57, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
- Seconded. The information is spurious at best. I contacted a person "in the know" who had not heard anything about a re-launch in North America. The show aired in the USA from June 1, 1994 until early February 1995. It was, sadly, a ratings disaster. I highly doubt the major American networks, which do not air programming that is not produced especially for themselves, are "fighting" over Home and Away. If the show did return to US screens, it would certainly be on cable, not a network. This is why I think the information is bogus, it's written with an obvious lack of understanding of how American networks operate. The major US networks produce their shows in-house, or by production companies contracted to do so. NBC, ABC and CBS do not import programming.--HillbillyProfane (talk) 19:06, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

Shouldn't someone update the storyline section!! It says that it is unknown how Cassie leaves...this is old now and it is known that Cassie left with Sally and Pippa (Jnr) to go on a trip. Also maybe there should be a mention of how Sam Holden died and how there is a major murder investigation going on which is seeing two favourites being suspects! I have no idea how to edit Wiki...i've tried and messed up so i'm hoping someone more capable would be able to update it (with gratitude from me) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.45.193.49 (talk) 00:46, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

Why isn't she listed as Beth Sutherland. Did she ever say she was changing her name back after divorcing Rhys?

Bidding War
Was there really a bidding war between ITV and five? I thought ITV/Carlton just decided to dump the soap like they did with so many others eg, PCBH, Crossroads, High Road etc that weren't performing so well in the ratings.... It stinks that they made us wait so long before five could show it Alextimmins 19:53, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
I don't personally remember any such bidding war otherwise why would ITV have dropped it and left it? Fools! Cls14 22:03, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
The contract for the renewal came up and ITV wanted to pay a lower price than it was paying at the time. So Southern Star who distribute it decided to hire a researcher to see what appeal H&A still had in the UK, and found that it was making ITV money. It was Seven that decided to open up the bidding - Channel 5 offered to pay a lower price and to also commit to the show for as long as it is made, which ITV weren't prepared to do. Hence why Seven decided to sell it to Five.

Separate character articles redirected to character list articles
Because virtually all of the articles on the characters only contained an infobox and a mention of the actor who played the character, I've redirected most of them to either List of Home and Away characters or Current Home and Away characters. Per Wikipedia:Notability (fiction):
- Major and notable minor characters (and places, concepts, etc.) in a work of fiction should be covered within the article on that work of fiction. If an encyclopedic treatment of such a character causes the article on the work itself to become long, then that character can be given a separate article.
- Non-notable minor characters (and places, concepts, etc.) in a work of fiction should be merged with short descriptions into a "List of characters." This list should reside in the article relating to the work itself, unless either becomes long, in which case a separate article for the list is good practice. The list(s) should contain all characters, races, places, etc. from the work of fiction, with links to those that have their own articles.
- It is useful to add redirects to the article page or list of minor characters, from anything that's listed in there.
- It is often informative to include plot summaries (and other spoilers) in articles on works of fiction. However, please keep them reasonably short, as the point of Wikipedia is to describe the works, not simply summarize them. It is generally appropriate for a plot summary to remain part of the main article, not a lengthy page of its own. In some cases, sub-articles and lists are created when the potential for an encyclopedic coverage is hindered by the recommended length guidelines of one article.
I just thought I'd leave an explanation here in case users are wondering why. Thanks. Extraordinary Machine 01:01, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
Bianca Taylor
What is going on with this character? She was "supposed" to premiere this month and I have seen her name come and go from the Wiki page. Emma's page says that she will be Belle's sis. was this just a hoax?

Ad Breaks
Why are there 3 ad breaks in Australia and only 1 in UK. Is the programme on longer in Autralia?--SimonPeter 14:22, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
- Commercial TV in Australia runs ads roughly each 7 or 8 minutes. Ad breaks are more frequent than in the UK, but shorter. Asa01 23:58, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
- In Australia there are no commercials between programs. One show ends and the next one immediately starts. This means all the breaks are during shows, where advertisments are more likely to be seen. Austvguy 12:05, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
Belinda Emmett
Whilst it is cruel and distressing that Belinda Emmett has died at such a young age, this article is about the current cast and the show itself, not an actress who left the show a while ago. This would set a precedent for other long running shows. (Quentin X 17:23, 13 November 2006 (UTC))
- I didn't add this section but did clean it up. It doesn't quite start a precedent since the The Young Doctors and Neighbours articles have already had Deceased Cast Members sections in place for some weeks (at least). Given that Emmett, as well as the other actress to play Rebecca in the show (Megan Connolly), both died at a young age, I think the section is quite notable and should stay. Soap opera articles throughout wikipedia already vary in the detail used to describe the cast, characters, writers, producers, storylines, programme format ratings, etc. One tiny paragraph here is not a big problem really. This article is not only about the current cast, but is about the entire show. Asa01 18:53, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
- Having seen pages for The Young Doctors and Neighbours I can see your point. However this page should be in keeping with the other pages. We do not need to know the details of her death; that is for her page. A box format like the Neighbours page would be in keeping with the article. (Quentin X 19:11, 13 November 2006 (UTC))
- Someone has reinstated this, but not my last version which I thought was OK, but a version with extraneous information about her death and who her husband was, that should not really be here but on her own page. I think I will restore my version. Asa01 21:54, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

Removal of Most External Links
I noticed that the majority of the links to major sites containing information about Home and Away have been removed, with three so-called official sites remaining, all of which contain relatively little information if readers were wanting to further their knowledge past what is currently has rather limited information on wikipedia. For instance for those wishing to learn more about the show, which is probably came to this article in the first, will find much more informations on good fansites such as BTTB.net for H&A and PB.net and NF.com for Neighbours, rather than official sites which rarely provide you with more information than what's happening next week and that it's possible to have more than ten moving images on the one page (Ryan86 21:06, 21 February 2007 (UTC))
Some tosser has done it again
I've put the links back that the knobhead deleted.
- Please see Talk:Neighbours, where a similar discussion took place. It was decided there that all external links to fansites should be removed from the Neighbours article to avoid mass addition of non-notable ones and arguments over the order. I have seen similar problems happen on this article and thought removal of most of the external links was appropriate. Wikipedia is not a repository of external links, but a link to an Open Directory Project page would be acceptable per Wikipedia:External links. J Di 17:20, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
It says that a "A web directory category, when deemed appropriate by those contributing to the article, with preference to open directories." can be considered, this page says Wikipedia:External links under links to be considered.
Yesterday I added a site which had a directory of all the Home & Away fansites but the link was today deleted by J Di, isn't this site allowed? Also, I haven't seen any arguments over the order on here at all.

Suggesting re-write
Having just read the Neighbours article, this one seems so bland. The Neighbours article is well written and contains a history of major plotlines and characters. The H&A article is full of boxes and basically just trivia, and way too much UK info.
Character pages
On many of the character pages, the plot is not in chronological order - to my belief - probably due to people from different parts of the world, mainly UK and Australia, seeing the episodes at different times and then editing accordingly. For example, some events appear more than once in a summary, which is quite confusing. I suggest a review of the chracter pages and then a rewrite if necessary. Is it a sufficiently important part of the show to warrant a section on the page. And if it is, they're UK sponsors, so we need Aus ones also. Personally i say scrap it. Bobliveson 07:00, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

International Broadcasts
Is it really necessary to have such a long description about the broadcast times and history for the international broadcasts, especially the UK broadcast history. I don't believe it adds much value to the article and it seems too confusing to read. Also, is it really necessary to have a deceased cast member table? The article needs to be shorter in my opinion. I have just gone through the article briefly making grammatical changes and fixing links etc. A fair bit of work still needs to be done on this page. Slabba 10:17, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, I agree. I've been wondering about this for a while, and perhaps i should be bold and just do a mass clean up of that section. I don't think anyone particularly cares about the exact time H&A's pilot was broadcasted. And also, there aren't anny sources for most of this information. — *Hippi ippi 06:12, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
About the info on the Belgian broadcasts. Belgium (Flanders) started running the series in December 1989 on VTM (Flemish commercial tv station) and not in 1995 on Kanaal 2 as it is mentioned in the article. So it started in 1989 on VTM and in 1995 it moved to Kanaal 2 which is the second channel of VTM. Since the beginning of March 2008, Kanaal 2 changed its name to "2BE". Episodes run every weekday at 6pm with a repeat the day after at 1:30pm. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tideledi (talk • contribs) 07:51, 25 March 2008 (UTC) Link for 2be: [1] —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tideledi (talk • contribs) 07:57, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
About the show being played in Canada, it aired on YTV and they started right from the first episode when the channel launched in August 1988. However, they only had the rights to broadcast the first 200 episodes and then they would just loop all over again, making the show impossible to follow. This went on for several years until 1993. In about 2002 or so, Global(part of the same conglomerate that owns Ten/Freemantle) played the show at 4:30 PM weekdays. I don't think it did very well in that time slot because it was dumped to 4:30 AM in about 2003 or 2004. It was eventually dumped from the line-up all together. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.63.62.45 (talk) 11:27, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Major clean up
Okay, I have taken 2 hours of my time to clean up this article. I will now explain my major edits.
- Broadcast history - I have totally removed international broadcasts. Why? It is redundant information. It was all about the history - when H&A was broadcast and where. The facts were specific, yes, but it wasn't really necessary.
- I think the existing broadcast history section should be deleted - If you see here: Wikipedia:WikiProject Television/How to write about television programs there is NO mention about broadcast history. If you look at the featured articles, such as Lost (TV series), there is absolutely no mention of it.
- Sure, but Home and Away has been on for 20 years... Lost has been going for what - 2 years? It has no history! Austvguy (talk) 22:03, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
- Storylines section - this was originally from the History section. Except, it now needs further elaboration, as you can see.
- Awards - I thought this was somewhat necessary, but perhaps what I've got here (ie. a list) is too much.
Okay, I'd like people's opinion. If you hate it, we'll sort it out.
One more thing - this article really, really needs references. I tried looking for refs for particular facts, but I failed. Something needs to be done, but I don't know what. — *Hippi ippi 13:00, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
I agree that there was a lot of irrelevant information, and the article seems to have been accumulating more, since it was last cleaned up ages ago, someone reverted it back. I think that the awards section could be changed, maybe a Wiki Table with each year and then the people who won something in that year listed, or some other way. Chris 212 09:25, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
My guess is that a lot of the various updates regarding future cast changes come from a variety of Home and Away fansites out there, sometimes directly through the site and sometimes through media articles and are then posted on those sites. The members there then post what they find here.
PS: You won't find a source for Pippa Saunders leaving the show - a 5 y.o child actor won't be of any interest and it is taken as a given that she will leave with Sally. -- Ryan86 21:59, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, I have to agree with this. But I am SICK of people deleting the {{Fact}} tags I place on the coming and going tables. This must be the 6th time. — *Hippi ippi 01:54, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
- I have spent quite a bit of time creating an awards table for the logies win and nominations. Since there were so many to list, I created a new page List of Home and Away awards, therefore there is less clutter on the main Home and Away page. It still needs refs, also feel free to add any other awards that the show has won. Slabba 06:59, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, great idea. I tried finding refs before, but it's hard. The official Logies page (TV Week) gets updated every year, so these refs will be invalid every year. — *Hippi ippi 01:54, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks, I got my list of noms and wins from each of the yearly Logies wiki pages. Also it probably would be a good idea to get the page protected, there is a lot of edits by anonymous editors going on and not necessarily with good contributions. Slabba 03:39, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, great idea. I tried finding refs before, but it's hard. The official Logies page (TV Week) gets updated every year, so these refs will be invalid every year. — *Hippi ippi 01:54, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

So yeah, protection is the way to go, I reckon. — *Hippi ippi 07:18, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

Home and Away will have have first chance as normal at 6.30pm but the 7.00pm showing of Neighbours is a repeate of the 1.45pm showing on five, thus no first chance for Neighbours. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Onshore (talk • contribs) 03:12, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
Upcoming, departing cast etc)
Unless there is a source that supports a claim of some one leaving or coming back to the show there name should not be on the list on departing characters etc). I noticed that a discussion was taking place on another forum that was talking about the return of kane and kirsty. There source was wikipedia and the source of the wikipedia article is not present hence i removed that part. In order to uphold the integrity of wikipedia this issue needs to be addressed. I will be taking action and working on these sections. When adding a statment in relation to some one leaving or coming etc make sure its true and provide a source! Or i'll delete it. Does this sound fair??? It's so easy for a person just to write that some one is leaving when they are not,, and then some one sees it on wikipedia and thinks its true,, and when it doesnt come true, it makes wikipedia look bad. Any issues with my approach??? Printer222 (talk) 04:19, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
- I think it's absolutely fair to revert anything that has been added without a reference. And then put a warning notice on their talk page. And I also have no qualms about doing it. -- Matthew | talk | Contribs 09:08, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

Reliable source discussion
I have my doubts about the source that suggests that Ric is leaving Home and Away.. As a result a discussion is taking place at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Noticeboard#http:.2F.2Fwww.throng.com.au.2F fell free to join in and discuss the relevant policy in releation to sources.. The concern is if the website throng is reliable due to the face that it is a fan based community. Printer222 (talk) 23:20, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
I agree with User:Printer222 that the source is'nt that great.. I'd remove it for now until (if) it's confirmened in the papers. ThaGazBoi (talk) 00.01, 8 March 2008 —Preceding comment was added at 00:01, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
pages removed
Why have the pages regarding Morag Bellingham, Leah Patterson-Baker, Rachel Armstrong, Matilda Hunter and Ric Dalby been removed (Silverhorse (talk) 09:44, 15 March 2008 (UTC))
Errors on the main article page :
1 : Ireland is not part of the UK - and so, should not be listed under "in the UK on five"
2 : TV3 has NEVER shown Home and Away in Ireland - It has only ever been on RTÉ
So, whoever added that "TV3 lost the rights in Ireland when ITV did in the UK as they simulcasted H&A" is TOTALLY WRONG and MADE-UP !

Someone...
Create a character page for all the characters that are in the series please or restore every single deleted page, that got deleted over the past few days? Simple enough, a page containing all the deleted material from the last few days. All the character except a few have gone, so maybe a page with them all in is needed? Anyone help with that one? Thanks Raintheone (talk) 20:17, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
- I've shortened the title of this topic as it was amost impossible for people to comment on their changes to it and also made the contents take up the width of the page. ~~ Peteb16 (talk) 21:45, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
Individual character articles
I have gone through all of the articles in Category:Home and Away characters, and found that none of them feature significant referencing. As a result, they are now all tagged with reference-needed templates. Some of them have remained so tagged for several months, with no references added to support the real-world notability of the subjects. If reliable, verifiable references are not provided for these articles in the near future, it is my intention to list these articles for deletion, following the examples set in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Brad Armstrong (Home and Away), Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Matilda Hunter (2nd nomination) and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ric Dalby (second nomination). - Mark 10:39, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
United Kingdom schedule
The current table is way to big, quite confusing and mentions Neighbours way to many times. Speaking of which, some time ago I made a compact schedule table for the Neighbours article and, perhaps for uniformity's sake, propose one for Home and Away.
Five and Five Life's current schedule:
Day | Fiver | Five | Fiver | ||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
10.30am† | 2.15pm | 6.00pm | 6.30pm† | ||
Monday | E | A | A | B | |
Tuesday | A | B | B | C | |
Wednesday | B | C | C | D | |
Thursday | C | D | D | E | |
Friday | D | E | E | A | |
Saturday | Omnibus edition on Five* | ||||
Sunday | Omnibus edition on Fiver†* |
~~ Peteb16 (talk) 22:04, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
- I've updated the table regarding Five Life's rebranding to Fiver. Please could someone else comment on this or other ways to improve the existing table as I don't believe it's acceptable in it's current condition. Apart from the fact it mentions scheduling of another show several times, it now includes unnotable and unsourced information about a temporary scheduling anomaly that, by tomorrow evening will be completely irrelevant. The phrase "for some reason" is very unencyclopaedic too. ~~ Peteb16 (talk) 12:05, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
- I'm implementing this table now for all the above reasons. ~~ Peteb16 (talk) 19:54, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
WP:BALL and upcoming, departing cast etc)
This policy states: Wikipedia is not a collection of unverifiable speculation. All articles about anticipated events must be verifiable, and the subject matter must be of sufficiently wide interest that it would merit an article if the event had already occurred.
Based on this it is my interpretation that speculation about characters that are either coming to the bay or leaving the bay are not premited, as first of all it is hard to 100% verify this speculation and it's really not that important, that it would merit an article if these characters had already come or left.
so i have removed this sort of content and will continue to as per the policy, any issues discuss it here. Cheers Printer222 (talk) 10:13, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

MIS-information re: H&A broadcast in Ireland :
Firstly, I like the fact that the H&A page has been "protected" from anyone editing it, however, the person who added that RTÉ will not be airing episodes for THREE WEEKS in June is COMPLETELY WRONG !
It is true that Home and Away has been removed from the RTÉ schedule starting on June 9 but this is for ONE WEEK ONLY. Home and Away will return to RTÉ on Monday, June 16 at 13:25.
Will somebody who has editing rights PLEASE correct this as it is plain mis-information...

Referencing in character articles
Further up on this page in April I signalled that I had tagged a gazillion Home and Away character articles as being unreferenced, and that if reliable sources weren't given for them, there would be mass deletions in the near future. Well, I've just gone through the ones I tagged and haven't found more than a couple of random references given for them in the 5 months (or more) they have been tagged, so I have removed all unreferenced material. Any material which gets added to them in future without a reliable source given as a reference will get reverted by me. According to the Verifiability policy, "any material challenged... should be attributed to a reliable, published source using an inline citation" and "the burden of evidence lies with the editor who adds or restores material".
My concern with these articles is that they have become places for fans to publish their own analyses and synthesis based upon one primary source (the show). This is pretty blatant violation of the No Original Research rule. - Mark 02:08, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

PEOPLE EDITING THE ARTICLE WITH MADE-UP INFORMATION : PLEASE STOP !!
A person with the I.P. address : 83.71.107.51 keeps editing the article with INCORRECT details regarding the broadcasting of H&A in some European countries.
PLEASE NOTE :
Ireland's RTÉ are currently 11 (ELEVEN) episodes behind Australia . . . (Jan 20, 2009)
UK's five are 10 (TEN) episodes behind . . .
This person even contradicts her/him self by stating that RTÉ are one day behind five but that the UK is 34 episodes behind Australia!
I am no expert in editing these pages but I've saved a back-up so that any more vandalism can be undone.
I really HATE when people make up things and then change CONFIRMED articles without checking their facts . . .
Dublinfearghail (talk) 19:35, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
I didn't change the details, but the last episode aired in Australia on the 1st Feb 2010 was #5001, on the same day, Five aired #4996 while RTE aired #4995. You do the maths, you can compare the listings on the Seven, Five and RTE websites or find a Youtube channel that uploads the program. I am so sick of the large UK History do us readers really have to read the extremely discriptive UK screenings of home and away im sure very few are interested the exact days and days the show does not play and what episode number screened when, if it continues i will continue to delete it until it ends or is abreviated like any other country, if you want a schedule of when the show airs on Five and any of its other channels consult the broadcasters website or create a seperate page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.109.161.118 (talk) 09:22, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
Success(?) in US and Canada
Can someone also look at removing the incorrect detail about the apparent success of the show in the US and Canada? This is blatantly made up and not the case at all. There is **no way** Canadaian networks are locked in a battle over the series; acquisitions bidding wars simply don't prolong in the way described. Someone wins, or they don't. There simply isn't an appetitite for the show in Canada or the US.
I agree the UK history is overlong, and this article is generally over-obsessed with the when (it's on) and not nearly as much about its origins, themes and key plot points (where is 'The Stalker' storyline mention, which was the point of its revival under Cameron Welsh a few years back). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.46.200.76 (talk) 22:12, 28 March 2009 (UTC)

Aden
A profile page for Aden needs doing, it was deleted, I tried to do one but it wouldn't let me. Can someone please do one.Gillyh (talk) 21:48, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
- It was deleted as the result of a community deletion nomination. What you reposted was deleted again because it was a copyright violation (you were not the author of the material) and also because it was a repost of previously deleted material. Most of the character articles are going to be redirected to a central list page, so I would suggest that no further character articles be created at this point and instead anyone wanting to help build Wikipedia's material on Home and Away work on bringing the articles on notable characters (such as Sally, Charlie, Alf) up to Wikipedia's content rules so they don't have to be deleted as well. If you want to help save some of the Home and Away material already here, the first thing that needs to be done is reliable sources (ie newspaper, magazine, journal articles etc and not blogs, fan material or forum posts) need to be found for the material in existing articles and original research and blow-by-blow storyline essays that are unverified and unverifiable and written in a non-encylcopedic tone have to be removed. The basic rule is Wikipedia only reports what has already been published by reliable sources and material that no one else has published already doesn't belong here, so material already here needs to be sourced to verifiable reliable sources and if it isn't it is going to be removed. If you want to help Wikipedia, you are most welcome to help fix the mess that is already here by helping bring the articles in line with Wikipedia's rules for articles. Sarah 04:33, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
Thats bull the Character information was totally accurate and in encyclopedic format before it was over zealously deleted and I can say that with authoriting having watched and been a fan of the show since 1993. On the point of Referencing, its near imposible to reference asoap which has aired for the last twenty-one years without ever having a season repeated. (talk) 2:48, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

Anyone thinking that Controversies should be it's own parent section instead of being a child class of History (sorry, speaking flow chart language here). I think it's kind of weird having it there.
Just opening this up for discussion with my fellow wikipedians!
- Ideally the whole article needs to be restructured. If you look at a GA in television such as Underbelly (TV series), you can see how a serious article can be structured. Or for something more along soap lines, check out EastEnders. I originally wanted what is now labelled as "controversies" under a critical reception/impact type of heading, but I believe "controversies" was your choice. florrie 08:02, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
Seeing it is dealing with a controversial issue, I think this header is more appropriate. I'm not too skilled in structuring wiki pages. I do personally think it should be it's own section, I will however leave that to someone else to change it... or when I at least figure out how to do it. lol --Messenger777 (talk) 12:38, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
comings and goings
Why is Martin Bartlett on the main cast member list, he's only a guest character. Why is Todd Lasance on the departure list, it has not been confirmed he is leaving, so he should be removed from the departure list.
Annie
{{editsemiprotected}}
Even though, Annie has left and her profile has been removed from the Official Site, it has been confirmed by Dan at BTTB that she is returning with Irene in a few weeks. She needs to be put back on the current cast list. It is confirmed in the spoiler section under Annie and Jai leaving.
- I wouldn't have a clue about "comings and goings" and this article shouldn't be concerned about whether or not a lesser character is coming back in a few weeks or not. It isn't a spoiler site. All material must be supported by reliable sources, not by a fan forum. The table itself should be removed, in my opinion, and replaced with text relating information about the major characters. There are already three lists available detailing Home and Away characters in present and past form. florrie 02:33, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

United Kingdom Section

The updated section regarding the 2010 season in the UK needs editing, were're in season 22 not 23, H&A celebrated it's 21st birthday last year, so the number after 21 is 22. Also the season needs chaging in the information panel —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.72.224.94 (talk) 20:13, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
2010 is season 23. 1988 is the season 1, if you say that 2010 is season 22, that means that 1989 would be season 1. count 1988 - season 1, to 2010 - 23, it does add up to season 23.
Article condition
I've noticed that this article is in a bit of a state. It has a total of 23 references, it should contain much more then that. There is a large Broadcast section with only two sources to back up the information. The history section, for some reason, contains information about Neighbours that is in no way relevant to the history of Home and Away. The production section contains one, unreferenced sentence. The lead mentions that the show has won over 30 Logie Awards, but this isn't mentioned anywhere in the article and there is no link to the List of awards and nominations received by Home and Away page (which also needs some work as it only lists the Logie awards).
This article has the potential to become a Good article, like Neighbours and EastEnders, but it needs a lot of work. Are there any regular Home and Away contributors willing to help improve the article? I'm going to try and do as much as I can, but, as Neighbours is my main specialty, it would be better to have the Home and Away editors help out. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 16:29, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

But recently I've started working on some of the character articles with a fellow editor and H&A could be getting it's first GA article soon. When I'm less busy, I think I'll start researching the history of the show and get that section sorted. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 23:46, 22 July 2010 (UTC)

Template colour change?
What do you all think to changing the colour of the bright orange infobox/template? As per Wikipedia:Navigation templates, there needs to be a fairly good reason for seperate colour from the normal, other than "gives the soap opera a seperate identity".
