[edit]

I removed the See Also section as it existed on 2017-07-24. First, the Diocese is mentioned in the text, and doesn't need to be here. Second, a disambiguation page would serve well as a hatnote, but not a See Also (as none of them have anything to do with this particular church). Finally, a chapel on the Georgetown University campus which was not established by, run by, owned by, overseen by, or in any way has anything to do with Holy Trinity Church (except proximity, as many churches do) should be on this page. - Tim1965 (talk) 20:43, 24 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to know more about the early history....

[edit]

it says the Church was founded in 1787 by the Jesuits. How is that possible when the Jesuits were suppressed by the Pope in 1773 and forced from every country except Russia? They were not reinstated until 1814, after the Napoleonic Wars, which is when the Jesuits returned to America. There is no mention of the Great Jesuit Suppression of 1773-1814 in this. There is the letter of John Adams lamenting to Thomas Jefferson about the return of the Jesuits, which I believe was written in either 1814 or 1816. So how did they build this church so close to the White House(under 3 miles)? - 2601:801:0:8e4d:b93a:cfdb:350c:9431 (talk) 17 May 2019
