I Must Be Emo/Emo Song - I'm A Gangster
Just to clarify things, Hollywood Undead infact did not play the song "I Must Be Emo" smetimes also known as "Emo Song" It was played by the band Adam and Andrew. The also did not play the comedic song "I'm A Gangster," the song was by Jamie Kennedy. --Killeroid (talk) 05:39, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

Debates and Contoversy
Only one member of Hollywood Undead has currently been 'revealed' through his own choice. The member is Deuce who revealed himself through his myspace page featuring music under his own name and own unmasked image. The identity of most of the members has been closely protected by not only the band themselves, but also MySpace Records, Octone Records, and band management. Wikipedia itself had been controlled by this publicity shield itself; with an official entry for the band only showing up after random changes on the band's MySpace finally alluded too and announced the new album.
Many theories exist as to the true identity of the members. As the first two singles hit the airwaves from the new album, members Johnny 3 Tears (aka The Server aka J3T) and Charlie Scene have come under scrutiny as to their real identity. Some people believe the group is label created while others simply believe the group is composed of mostly established talent that masked themselves so that they could create new music and art without judgement or labeling. Based on this some fans believe that Johnny 3 Tears and/or Charlie Scene are in fact the rapper Eminem (aka Marshall Mathers aka Slim Shady) due to similarities in vocal inflections, rapping tone, and even lyrical structure. Others indicate that 'Tha Server' aka Johnny 3 Tears shows tattoo like markings that look like an 'H' and a 'U' on each inner elbow in the 'No. 5' video, but in the latest 2008 video these tattoos are not visible while blurred looking full upper arm tattoos consistently match large designs of Eminem. Charlie Scene also shows tattoos that from a distance appear to resemble those of the rapper Eminem. This debate rages on and the band itself announced that possible performances without the masks were forthcoming leading many to believe a surprise is about to be revealed to all.
The band has captivated fans around the world mainly with their aire of mystery. As this included portion will likely be deleted quickly by either band representatives, MySpace Records, or Octone Records; it should be noted that all curious fans should investigate the mystery surrounding Hollywood Undead. This will not only proof a valuable resource in the search to determine their identity but also fuel further speculation and interest in this unique band.
Removed this whole section from the article because it does not contribute any concrete information to the article and its mostly conjecture. If anyone likes to edit it down, remove conjecture, state some solid facts and add some references, he/she can copy this whole edited section back into the article. --Killeroid (talk) 16:08, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
As a fan having saw Hollywood Undead quite recently in concert, all members of the band performed without mask and neither Charlie Scene or J3T are or resemble Marshall Mathers. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.94.10.214 (talk) 22:24, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
If you look in the acknowledgements section of Swan Songs you can work out who "Charlie Scene" is, from the part saying "Charles P." and the surname of his father. Neither "Johnny 3 Tears" or "Charlie Scene" really sound like Eminem either. And I think that the public would know if it was Eminem.SellYourSoul (talk) 12:23, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
Jeffree Star? Sexuality?
How does Jeffree Star relate to this band? Does he/she tour with the band? Also is it true that the majority of the members of the band are bi-sexual? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.165.220.2 (talk) 23:09, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
- Jeffree Star never used to be part of the group. He was a vocalist on some of the earlier songs. And as to the band's sexuality, no one knows, the band hasn't said anything about it. --Killeroid (talk) 01:20, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
i got a message on myspace from them saying they were just messing around about it and stuff.
As to their sexuality it seems to be hinted at especially in many of their yet unreleased songs that some of the members "fool around" with each other. This may all be in jest, especially as most of the references where to Jefferey Star (drag queen/pop icon) or Shady who seem to no longer be with the band
Also on the Unreleased section it should be edited to show Jeffree Star is featured in CHristmas in Hollywood and turn off the lights
My Black Dahlia
Just so that everyone is clear, there has been no official video released for the song My Black Dahlia. Please refrain from adding My Black Dahlia to the video list. I even added a comment on the list just so that people dont add it. Its annoying reverting that same edit over and over again. --Killeroid (talk) 04:40, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
Genre Discussion
I have noticed many mislabel'd genres.
Alright to start off
Emo: Ok, I can see where this label is coming from but we are going to have to face it, there lyrics may sound like a stereotypical emo song, but there music is not emo. It does get close however, so this one must go under debate.
Heavy Metal: HU in no way is Heavy Metal, nuff said. There is no evidence to point to this.
Hip-hop: Yes, they are
Screamo: I wouldent say screamo, only one song is actually screamo and that is "Sell Your Soul", they are more Rapcore I believe that should be added and screamo taken off so
We debate on emo, remove heavy metal, hip-hop stays, switch screamo with rapcore. Does anyone else agree? P.S: Ima fix up the info box also it looks broke
A7xTheRev (talk) 22:36, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
- I disagree with you. First of all, "Sell Your Soul", "Undead" among other tracks are screamo. nm Read the characteristics of screamo here Screamo.Secondly, the songs "City", "Undead" , "Sell Your Soul" are all good examples of why HU is classified as Heavy Metal. The tempo of the drums and guitar and other instrumental are all characteristics of the heavy metal genre. And for the emo tag, one good example will be the songs "This Love, This Hate" and "Paradise Lost" and "My Balck Dahlia".Listen to the lyrics of those songs.
Question:Black Dahlia" stands out. Did you guys grow up with that story?
- Johnny 3 Tears: For us, I know why we wrote the song. It's based on our own situations with that. It's that classic story. You like someone so much, and then they leave and you feel like you could kill them. J-Dog titled the song. He's fascinated with old Hollywood. He does a magazine called Hollywood Land. He's studied how Hollywood developed into what it is. I don't even know what a Dahlia is [Laughs].
.
- That quote is from any interview Hollywood Undead did with artistdirect.Basically, the band themselves pus critics all consider the band to fall under all these genres and the bands work supports that. --Killeroid (talk) 00:30, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- Just because three songs are screamo dosen't make them a screamo band, and when it has half screamo that is more post hardcore than screamo. This is not screamo, you can easily tell that. Another thing, that is not Heavy Metal look up Iron Maiden that is heavy metal. And as for emo Lyrics do not make a band emo, sound however does. If this were true Bullet for my Valentine would be emo. You are getting typical stereotypes mixed up with Emo's true sound. The point im trying to make here isn't to disprove you, but they are not heavy metal or screamo they do have influence however..
Let me get you a varifiable source here is Allmusics take on HU [1]
They say they are hip hop with a hint of rock and metalcore But under genres they are rap rock(Rapcore) and Hip Hop. Calling them heavy metal would be foolish more like Rap-Metal But more on the core side
On a little side note it dosent matter what a band considers themself sadly, if this were true MCR woulden't have Emo on there wiki page.
A7xTheRev (talk) 01:20, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- Not to be rude, but I'm going to be blunt: your opinion does not matter. The only genres the sources seem to agree on are hip hop, rock, and metal, so I'm keeping those in and removing everything else. I put rap rock instead of just rock just to be more specific, and because Allmusic confirms it. — FatalError 06:12, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
- Its not on opinion friend one source no matter how well know beats other sources that are just as well known that outnumber it. It is not an opinion, I provided a source I am not wrong but yes rap rock is an appropriate tag. They are not Heavy Metal, and as said one source does not define the genres if this were true we would have over 100 genres in the box right now. One other thing I don't recall anywhere on the virgin mobile page where it says HEAVY metal, metal is an umbrella term for the genres in the metal catagory. As in if anything this is rap metal with Metalcore influence(Which I believe is stated in All Music so Metalcore may be appropriate to replace metal with). To be more specific we must change metal to Metalcore. Which is practically what it is. A7xTheRev (talk) 01:57, 9 September 2008 (UTC)
- Its more like Nu Metal. Check the wiki. Its just like it. Rap rock and Nu metal I reckon. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.181.174.89 (talk) 10:00, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
Rapcore mentions Hollywood Undead, as does List of nu metal bands, so it's slightly contradictory if this article doesn't mention those genres.SellYourSoul (talk) 12:28, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
Wikipedia needs to learn to classify genres. They're just rapcore. Lyrics don't make a genre. Seriously. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.4.85.173 (talk) 08:21, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

Unmasked Pics
As with the comment above me, there are a number of pictures around of the band without their masks. I tried to link once to a pic, but it was treated as vandalism and reverted.
Just throwing it out there - anyone else think it's a good idea to add some unmasked HU photos? HiddenStash.2008 (talk) 05:58, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
- First of all, the picture you posted was not a picture of them unmasked, it was of a totally different band. It was a picture of members of a band called Number 12. Secondly, an unmaksed picture has no use to this article. So there you go. --Killeroid (talk) 11:49, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
The band Hollywood Undead post pictures of themselves in masks, and they perform in masks, so it's stupid to put up pictures on them without masks. Perhaps on articles about specific band members (which, at present, don't exist), but not on the articles about the bandSellYourSoul (talk) 12:31, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
I am adding a genre!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HU typically falls under those genre categories but there is one everyone missed. SCENE!!!! Scene is a mix between Emo and Punk. All HU members have also identified themselves as being a member of the Scene stereotype. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Scenekidhu4l (talk • contribs) 12:52, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
- First of all, Scene is not a genre. Its a community. Second of all, you have to discuss all genre changes before it goes up into the article. Not just list them, but discuss them and have other people comment on them and reach a consensus. Thank you. --Killeroid (talk) 13:40, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
One of the band members takes his name from this genre/community - Charlie "Scene". Listen to the lyrics from "Scene for Dummies". However, I'm not certain if it really should be classed as a "genre"SellYourSoul (talk) 12:33, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

Other pseudonyms/Aliases
The members of the band have been known to the world under these pseudonyms/aliases ever since they started this band. They released their album and works under the band name and the currently listed pseudonyms in the article. Those are the names we know them by and the world knows them by. Other alaises they go by do not matter to this article because this article is about the band and in the band, the aliases they use are the ones already listed. If you want to add other aliases, I suggest you make an another article about the individual member and add the alias and why its relevant. Dont add that new alias to this article because it is not relevant to this article. --Killeroid (talk) 18:36, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

Chart positions
Chart peaks for the band's only US charting single keep being removed. What possible reason is there for it not to be here? I mean, I'm fine with farming it to a discography page, but they don't have nearly enough releases to justify it. They belong here, and are essential information about the band's notability and career arc. Chubbles (talk) 22:30, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
Addendum; am I being pegged for a vandal here? There's an awful lot of reverting going on, as this is a perennial target for vandals and well-meaning eleven year olds. I am neither; perhaps some of the page's regulars are getting a bit bleary-eyed? Chubbles (talk) 22:31, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
- I kept reverting your edits because you provided no reason for including the chart history of that specific single. You gave no reason and so it looked like your edit was from a fanboy whose favorite hollywood Undead song was 'Undead' and he/she wanted everyone to know how that specific song did in the charts.I found it very strange that you added the chart history of only one single and ignored the chart histories of the other singles.(See my edit summary for when I reverted your edit :[2] )
- Your edit should have read something like
The single 'Undead', which is the bands' only US charting single, reached #13 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock charts and #18 on the Modern Rock charts.
- That or a better edit summary would have explained everything.
- I just editied the article to add the line I quoted above so we are all good now. Killeroid (talk) 00:17, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
According to my source, Undead is their only charting single, at least in the US. Is the link broken? Did you even look at my userpage? Fanboy? Charting hits are a criterion of WP:MUSIC, and everyone, everywhere, that I have seen operates under the assumption that they should be added whenever they are verifiable. Do you make a habit of removing this information from pages? Mind you, I added the album's chart positions to this article as well. Chubbles (talk) 00:29, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

Genre
Please refrain from editing the genre of the band without discussion here first. So far, all the references we have and from the interview they did with virgin mobile guys, the band is considered an emo band. --Killeroid (talk) 00:56, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
I dont care this band isnt emo. Say whatever you want but their clearly not.. just listen to them.
I'd like to see the genre 'Heavy Metal' removed from their page, I'm not trying to offend the band but this music is not Heavy Metal, even if it MAY or MAY NOT have been influenced by it; it certainly is not Heavy Metal. 99.255.3.55 (talk) 19:05, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
I'd also like to agree with the unsigned comment that this band is not 'emo' either. Technically emo isn't even a genre, but none the less, not heavy metal, and not emo. 99.255.3.55 (talk) 19:06, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

I consider Hollywood Undead to be both Rapcore & Nu Metal. The rapcore article and the list of nu metal bands both mention Hollywood Undead, so it's slightly contradictory if those genres aren't mentioned on the Hollywood Undead article. SellYourSoul (talk) 12:17, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
rapcore is rap with hardcore punk elements, so this band fits.. the band is not nu metal, and fit almost none of the qualities that identify nu metal. they are not emo, emo is a style of hardcore punk. the band has hardocore punk influances, as they play rapcore, but do not however play this without hip hop influance,so are not emo. the band do not play any kind of metal, even rap metal, as they do not have guitar driven hevyness, but rather beat driven heavyness. the band plays some hip hop with rock elemeants that does not constitue rap rock as well, constituting alternative hip hop. the band fits rap rock, rapcore, and alternative hip hop. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.163.15.210 (talk) 20:00, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

Hello
But putting rap-rock with hip hop on there wiki is say the same thing. You said they're are a rap-rock, why put in hip hop that when rap-rock is already mix with hip hop and rock. Beside the beats they dont really sound like hip hop beats. It clealy sounds and looks like they're using a synthesizer. Precedingunsigned comment added by 71.188.100.217 (talk) 01:38, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
- Some of their songs are hip-hop, others more raprock. Also just because they use a synthesizer on one song doesnt make them a synthpop band. Go read the article on synthpop. It doesnt really matter what your perosnal opinion is, we are using the genres that critics agree on.Killeroid (talk) 15:03, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
They use it in mostly all they're song.

I would like to point out that some information in this section is incorrect. First of all, Swan Songs has 21 songs, not 14. And also, 7 are party songs, not 6. The bands picture needs to be changed because they have a new member and they all have new masks. Also they need the genre "nu metal" and "alternative rock" added to their genre because most of the songs on their new album can be classed as nu metal and songs on their live and first album can be also calssed as nu metal and a lot of their songs also can be classed as alternative rock. 16:15, 02 May 2011

Evil Clown Gang - Undead - G.I. Joe
After doing some research, I found that the instrumental version of Undead, that matches the music used in the trailer for G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, is apparently credited to the artist name of "Evil Clown Gang." That's the artist one can buy it under via itunes store. The song is available both as a cover and as the instrumental version. The album is even called "Undead (as Made Famous by Hollywood Undead)." Here's the interesting part, I'm not finding ANYTHING else by Evil Clown Gang on itunes, nor any wikipedia references to the artist. Likely not noteworthy. I came here hoping to find some refernce to the cover and instrumental version and found a single line which seems to imply the version used in the trailer was released by HU as well and not a cover by ECG. A differentiation might be in order. Medleystudios72 (talk) 14:09, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
I listened to the song, and I think it's a cover version... there was another cover version of Undead that had been floating around for a while anyways... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rockstar729 (talk • contribs) 18:06, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

i thinks its real stupdi tht crunkcore isnt in ehre at all. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.79.232.178 (talk) 04:00, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
Crunkcore does not exist. It is an imaginary genre you have invented because you are stupid. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.133.243.96 (talk) 12:36, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

I would have to say nothing about this group is "Crunkcore." While I'm not a huge fan, if one was to listen to the entire album and then listen to any terrible song by "BrokenCYDE" they would agree with me entirely. Any references to "Crunkcore" should be removed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.243.130.85 (talk) 08:59, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
Crunkcore is a music style/genre, which mixes crunk with screamo, but most of they're songs that could be considered crunk, I believe don't have screams
Picture
Someone add a decent picture. Even the one of Danny would be better at the top. 94.15.61.126 (talk) 13:15, 10 September 2012 (UTC)
Deuce's Career

Third Studio Album
The date for the third album was pushed back to fall 2012 instead of the original summer date — Preceding unsigned comment added by 170.185.170.17 (talk) 17:44, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
Also, the name for their third album is "Notes from the Underground", as mentioned here: http://www.revolvermag.com/news/exclusive-hollywood-undead-premiere-new-single-we-are.html — Preceding unsigned comment added by 178.122.134.59 (talk) 14:49, 29 October 2012 (UTC)
Branch pages?
Wouldn't it make sense to add a few new pages for the rest of the members? It doesn't make sense to me that the only person who has his own page is one who's no longer a member. Schiffy (talk) 01:55, 31 October 2012 (UTC)
we need more information
I agree, although Deuce is now a solo artist with his own projects and discography now, so there is much more to talk about Deuce, where as the other members have little information apart from the band. sure there is family and masks and probably more, but Deuce is a solo artist, where as the rest of the band are in a band and have not released any solo tracks, unless you count The Only Ones by Kisses For Kings which features Johnny 3 Tears, Countdown by Monsta Squad which features J-Dog and All In by Han Cholo which features Charlie Scene.
I suppose Da Kurlzz/Matthew St. Claire has a bit to talk about since he has been a few films and so on, but only minor roles and these films I've never heard of before http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1060575/ (talk) 10:18, 24 November 2012
2,000,000 million?
There's a typo in the first few paragraphs. Either its 2,000,000 or 2 million. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.218.206.85 (talk) 23:56, 26 November 2012 (UTC)
Personal lives/pages about them
On other band pages, they have a section on their personal lives, and they have seperate pages about eachother. Shouldn't Hollywood Undead start having one now, seeing as they are getting pretty big! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Danic2905 (talk • contribs) 17:26, 5 March 2013 (UTC)
Not metal
Why are they listed as part of wiki project metal and rap metal? is there any source for this? I just listened to their first album and it has almost no metal elements whatsoever, pretty much just straight up rap rock/crunk/emo. I call the big one bitey 06:35, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
Other albums
If your hear some of their other songs from other albums, you can year their metal elements from them, such as We Are and Glory, they do have such elements but Swan Songs is primarily party music, but Young and Undead are two examples of songs with metal elements on the Swan Songs album. And also... what emo??? SilentDan297 16:52, 11 March 2013 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by SilentDan297 (talk • contribs)

Just some info from his official channel about issues between him and Deuce after his leave from HU. Not sure if it's really needed on this page, but since the band members and former band members don't have individual pages I thought I'd drop it off here. 69.125.172.74 (talk) 03:08, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
Nu metal
I beleive Hollywood Undead are nu metal. They are also similar to Linkin Park, Slipknot, Papa Roach and Limp Bizkit which is nu metal too. They are known as a popular band in that genre. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.175.59.5 (talk) 14:09, 16 July 2013 (UTC)
- You believe they are, but do you have any sources for that? Insulam Simia (talk/contribs) 14:36, 16 July 2013 (UTC)
- I have found these sources that speak of them being nu metal, however other users opinions would probably made the decision to use them easier.
- http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1606713/hollywood-undead-new-nookie-monsters-rock.jhtml = A review on the band itslef when they started
- http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/reviews/compact_discs/hollywood_undead/notes_from_the_underground/index.html = An album review of NFTU
- http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/reviews/hrpn = "the LA outfit are actually more like nu-metal apologists." a quote from the review of American Tragedy
There are various sources out there with reviews including the term of nu metal, but these are examples of what I found, they could just be used in the Musical style and vocal roles section. - SilentDan297 talk 09:44, 18 July 2013 (UTC)
4th studio album
Expected for a 2014 release, should it be included in the article somewhere? Evidence> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqWRNFMxEHw 90.208.167.73 (talk) 23:32, 21 July 2013 (UTC)
- This video is not a reliable source, the channel is a Hollywood Undead fan service. Such information about their releases has to come from an official/reliable source, not a random YouTube video that states it. - SilentDan297 talk 22:41, 22 July 2013 (UTC)
Lawsuit
Why is there no section devoted to the personal injury lawsuit filed against Dylan 'FunnyMan' Alvarez and Jorel 'J-Dog' Decker on account of the assault that was committed against Deuce? Its a pretty big deal and there needs to be some mention of it.[1] i can't add it cuz the article is locked. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dead Goldfish (talk • contribs) 06:44, 13 September 2013 (UTC)
