UserpageCOI.svg This user has made a public declaration indicating that he has a conflict of interest with regard to the following Wikipedia article(s): https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:6673339306809155584/I am seeking answers regarding the appropriate format to share new informations on the article Hollywood Music in Media Awards. I believe that I should be posting on the talk page as directed by other admin users.
Though I have had conversations on the project articles for deletion page Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hollywood Music in Media Awards where it the conversation was opened to include mores reliable sources regarding the article in question. To play it safe for now I will stay within the talk until more is shared about my approval in participating within the project page. I have declared CoI because of my involvement with the Award show in 2009. I volunteered my time to HMMAs which have been hosted annually each year since. While I am on the emailing and social media notifications for HMMAs I have no affiliations with the organization since 2009 other than keeping up with news from time to time about the growth in the award show as a whole in the industry.
In viewing a social media post requesting help editing wiki https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:6673339306809155584/ I independently private messaged Brent Harvey founder to HMMAs to assist. Since the global pandemic I have been involved in online education and volunteering my time with Ursus Institute in a documentary in the awareness of anti human trafficking efforts. Recently with the inquiry with Wiki and having more free time I decided to become involved with Brent Harveys request.
During our formal re-introductions since 2009 he mentioned payment for the reconstructions of the wiki article which creation was unknown. Monetary and or beneficial purpose was never contracted or defined and merely suggested. In reading about Wiki CoI polices I want to be as transparent about the situation to further the conversation and protect the Wiki platform, standards, and polices procedures. Further discussion and research about Wiki I find the experience an area of interest in regards to sharing what is known and in the search of truth about the article in question. Again as a new user in good faith and wanting to practice common sense I disclose the suggestion of payment but I AM NOT a paid CoI and will request to not paid by volunteering my time to this subject matter.
I firmly believe that with the help from the admin expert/editors and information from experienced Wiki admin users we will do what is needed and any substantive edit to this page should reflect consensus.
I hereby remain neutral in articles written independently of their subject, not corporate or personal webpages, or platforms for advertising and self-promotion. The request edit will pertain to developing the article and will contain only material that complies with Wikipedia's content policies and best practices. Note since the consensus of the article Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hollywood Music in Media Awards. Here are edits that will hopefully fulfill some of the prior concerns with the article and clearly define the purpose of the award show to wiki users. There will also be information development in the sandbox and any suggestions on how to make this article layout improvement should be generated by consensus.
Firstly, as stated in the articles for deletion the article in question has structural inadequacies. The section described of selected winners does not need to be included in this format. If possible since there are pages also created for each year the award show has been created this information would be better served there. I think the layout could be nice one of two ways. One this information dedicated to each awards shows different year article page, or option Two a specific drop folder on the this article dedicated to organizing the multiple years and winners. Instead of just a table chart.
-Next, the bio discription only entails a brief overview of what is previously stated on the website or other external sources. This may be misleading or not as accurate to the bio in which I will provide old/new example below.

HMMA HISTORY
note these edits to the article display common knowledge of the award shows history and is more inclusive in explaining aspects of the history. -Next, the Categories. I will not list the original selected winners categories list due to the non usefulness in examining this but I refer you to look at the existing article as reference. Hollywood Music in Media Awards Here is an example of a new categories description that will objectively give meaningful insight of the award show.
HMMA CATEGORIES
Score - Animated Film (Theatrical Release) Score - Feature Film (Theatrical Release) Score - SciFi/Fantasy (Theatrical Release) Score - Horror Film (Theatrical Release) Score - Independent Film Score - Short Film Score - Documentary Score - TV Show/Limited Series Score - Video Game Song - Animated Film (Theatrical Release) Song - Documentary Song - Feature Film (Theatrical Release) Song - Independent Film Song - Short Film Song - TV Show/Limited Series Song - Video Game Song/Score - Commercial Advertisement Song/Score - Mobile Video Game Song/Score - Trailer Main Title - TV Show/Limited Series Music Documentary Music Video (Independent) Music Supervision - TV Show/Limited Series Music Supervision - Film Music Supervision - Video Game Live Concert for Visual Media Soundtrack Album Note this new edit gives a clear indication to what categories are included in the award show and the uniqueness in the industry. It cuts a lot of the independent winners from being listed and gives the user a better understanding of the award show format. Important, in respect to the actual ceremony/award show. In the exsisting article only brief mention of the process is given. Including a better defined outlay of the known award show will clear users in providing them with the knowledge of what this organization represents and how the the industry has become involved in consideration.
The HMMA main event is a fun, non-stuffy, celebratory affair peppered with unpredictable moments and outstanding live performances. VIP banquet attendees begin seating at 6pm to enjoy a three course gourmet dinner prior to official start of awards show at 8pm. Hosts and guest presenters include Randy Jackson (American Idol judge, musician, producer), Melissa Manchester (multi-Grammy winning music artist), Verdine White (Earth, Wind & Fire), Rickey Minor (music director, composer, producer) Eric Roberts (Oscar nominated actor), Adam Gaynor (former Matchbox 20 guitarist), Andy Fickman (film/TV director, producer and writer), Stephen Bishop (Oscar winning singer-songwriter) Alonzo Bodden (winner of Last Comic Standing, actor), Ralph Johnson (Earth, Wind & Fire), Natasha Henstridge (actress, model), Ray Parker Jr. (“Ghostbusters”), Danielle Brisebois (actress, songwriter, artist), Starr Parodi (composer, president Alliance for Women Film Composers), Ashley Irwin (composer, president Society of Composers & Lyricists) and Melanie (singer-songwriter, hit recording artist) to name a few. The two-hour HMMA show includes up to six live performances. Notable live performances include renowned drummer Antonio Sanchez performing live to picture a scene from Oscar award winning film Birdman, which had not been released to the public and won the HMMA 2014 Best Original Score - Feature Film. Singer-Songwriter and producer Gregg Alexander (New Radicals) with Danielle Brisebois performing the song “Lost Stars” from the film Begin Again, which won the 2014 HMMA for Best Song - Feature Film. 2018 HMMA winning female vocalist Effie Passero (American Idol Season 16 finalist) and Casey McPherson perform eventual Oscar winning song “Shallow” from A Star is Born. The HMMA performance was praised as one of the best to date. Tyler Bates (film, TV, video game composer, former lead guitarist of Marilyn Manson) opened 2018 main event performing live to picture action sequence score from HMMA nominated film Deadpool 2) Jakob Dylan opened 2019 main event with The Mamas and the Papas classic “Go Where You Wanna Go” from the HMMA winning Music Documentary Echo in the Canyon. That same performance was followed by another classic, “Dedicated to the One I Love” with founding member of The Mamas & the Papas, Michelle Phillips joining the band on stage. The same show featured live performances by HMMA Original Score - TV Show nominee Kris Bowers (When They See Us) and multi-award winner composer Charles Fox performing a medley of his TV show themes and hit song “Killing Me Softly with His Song” The award show conclusion is followed by the official Afterparty, usually held in a different section of the venue. Select scaled down live performances and DJ music featured. Media interviews and photographs continue during this casual, wind-down event. Note this addition adds in-depth overview of what an attendee would expect in viewing the award show with multiple references to each year and participants. -Next, in the articles for deletion it has been mentioned that the this article does not mention the process of how it selects winners. It is crucial for wiki users to conclude the in-depth process in examinig a selection for the award show. No mention of this is included in the existing article.
Submissions are made through the official HMMA website [9] using two available online forms: Music In Visual Media[10] and/or Music Genre.[11] In lieu of actual audio files, the form requests an online link for the review process. A fee is required to complete the submission form. All submissions are reviewed and evaluated by the HMMA Selections Committee. The first round of initial selections are placed in a database for a second round of reviews to reach a final consensus of nominations. Winners are determined by the HMMA Voting Body. Voting is internal, confidential and winners are only revealed during the awards show and posted for public access the following day. The Hollywood Music In Media Voting Academy was created as a statutory body to determine the selection of winners via a voting ballot of designated nomination categories within the Hollywood Music In Media Awards. Voting Membership includes music industry professionals, select members of the Society of Composers and Lyricists (SCL), The Television Academy, the AMPAS Music Branch, NARAS, performing rights organizations, film music journalists, music executives, and HMMA Advisory Board[12] consultative body. Note this edit request gives the user a better understanding in how HMMA actually works. Continuation of this new information to the article provides more clarity to the user. As seen in the next example Advisory Board HMMA Advisory Board The HMMA Advisory Board[13] consists of seasoned professionals from the entertainment industry including, but not limited to, members of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, The Songwriters Hall of Fame, Society of Composers and Lyricists (SCL), the Television Academy, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), The Recording Academy (NARAS), performing rights organizations, journalists and music executives. Board members are not required to participate in the day to day operations of the HMMA. HMMA Lifetime Achievement recipients and Outstanding Career Achievement honorees are invited to join the Advisory Board as a matter of protocol. Submission Policies and Guidelines: Anyone submitting works for consideration represents that they are the creators of the works submitted, own the rights or possesses authority to enter the works for nomination consideration. Visual submission categories (film, TV, video game and all other forms of visual media) are for productions released from October 1st of the previous year to December 31st of the current year. "Nominations are determined by a five-person advisory board that includes composers John Debney and Christopher Young; ASCAP senior director of film & TV music Michael Todd; singer-songwriter and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Dave Mason; and Del Breckenfeld, director of entertainment marketing at Fender Musical Instruments Corp. The winners are then voted on by approximately 100 pros comprised of music supervisors, studio and network music execs, composers and songwriters."[14]
"The 2016 HMMA event will be held at the Fonda Theater in Hollywood and a portion of the proceeds will benefit Education Through Music – Los Angeles. Past honorees include Smokey Robinson, Glen Campbell, Dave Mason, Christopher Young, and John Debney." [17] "HMMA is widely acknowledged as the precursor to other mainstream award shows such as The Golden Globes, Grammys and Emmys." [18] "HMMA nominations are selected by an advisory board and selection committee which includes journalists, music executives, music-media industry professionals comprised of select members of the Society of Composers and Lyricists, The Television Academy, the AMPAS Music Branch, NARAS, and performing rights organizations." [19] "in an evening that had its share of technical difficulties. In presenting the documentary award to Netflix’s “Quincy,” presenter Robert Kraft at one point began volunteering stage directions from the podium only to be interrupted by random interjections from “the voice of God.” But the audience, partaking of dinner and drinks during the show, was loose enough to laugh off the mishaps.", "The HMMAs honor internationally produced music in film, TV, video games, commercials and trailers released between Oct. 1 of the prior year and Dec. 31 of the current year." [20] "The 10th annual Hollywood Music in Media Awards rewarded a diverse crop of composers, songwriters and music supervisors who contributed to film, TV and videogames over the last year", "The Hollywood Music in Media Awards split up some of their feature film categories by genre, But in the case of best original score for a feature film (which excludes the separate sci-fi, horror, animation and documentary divisions), there was an unexpected split even within the category.", "The Hollywood Music in Media Awards feature nominations picked by an advisory board and special committee, with the final vote going out to a wider group that also includes members of the Motion Picture Academy, Recording Academy, Society of Composers and Lyricists, and representatives of the PRO, journalism and music-exec communities.", "Awards were also given out for independent films, shorts and even trailers." [21] "With over 500 submissions globally, HMMA nominations are selected by an advisory board and selection committee that includes journalists, music executives and music-media industry professionals comprised of select members of the Society of Composers and Lyricists, Television Academy, the AMPAS Music Branch and NARAS." [22] "The Hollywood Music in Media Awards has inducted songwriters Diane Warren and Allan Rich into the HMMA advisory board and voting academy. [23] The pair will join an already diverse group of entertainment professionals that includes music artists and producers Verdine White, Dave Mason, Nile Rodgers and Adam Gaynor as well as award-winning film composers John Debney and Christopher Young.", "The HMMA is an awards organization that specifically recognizes music in all forms of visual media, including film, television and video games. Award categories include dramatic features, sci-fi/ fantasies, documentaries and animation among others." [24] "Best original score and best original song are two of the few categories presented at the Oscars that aren't first presented at many earlier awards shows. The categories are represented at the Critics' Choice and Golden Globe events, but do not have an event of their own in the way that many others do via corresponding guilds and societies. So the HMM Awards are perhaps the biggest showcase for Oscar-contending songs that we'll have until those others come along next month."[25]

- Hello Jrocksgibson, and welcome to Wikipedia. I'm sorry you've had a rough start, but here's to hoping your future editing here will run more smoothly. Thanks for using the edit request system to make suggestions. Unfortunately, I am declining your edit request, and will explain my rationale below.
- As you noted above, the Articles for Deletion discussion recommended that you find more sources to prove Hollywood Music in Media Awards is notable. I think the articles you pointed to here may help, but notability is not the main focus of my review. Instead, I am declining this edit request because of a separate issue: in my opinion, the proposed draft is too promotional and does not adhere to Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy. If I do end up evaluating notability, that will be later in the process.
- What I mean is that Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising, marketing or public relations, but the purpose of your proposed text is clearly to win over prospective customers and viewers. As such, it cannot be added to the article unless it is substantially rewritten. The most obvious red flags are phrases that are frequently used in press releases, but are not appropriate for an encyclopedia. These promotional terms include phrases such as "acknowledge and applaud," "unique opportunity for emerging artists," and "fun, non-stuffy, celebratory affair peppered with unpredictable moments and outstanding live performances." These are just some examples; please watch out for other promotional phrases that I have not flagged. Just as importantly, make sure the overall tone of the draft doesn't sound like a brochure. No one reading this Wikipedia article should come away thinking, "Wow, the writer really wants me to visit this event!" Wikipedia's purpose is to inform, not advocate.
- I would recommend that you read through other Wikipedia articles, such as Academy Awards, to get a sense of how Wikipedia maintains a neutral tone. If you intend to resubmit this request, please rewrite your proposed draft, editing line-by-line to eliminate any promotional content. Additionally, it would help if you could properly format in-line citations in your draft (you had a working version at Wikipedia talk:Articles for deletion/Hollywood Music in Media Awards). If working on the whole article at once is too much, you may want to try rewriting and resubmitting one section at a time. You may insert a new
{{edit COI}}
template when you are ready have your edit request reevaluated. - That concludes my review. If you have any questions, please feel free to post here or at the Teahouse. Best, Altamel (talk) 03:50, 15 July 2020 (UTC)

Hollywood Music in Media Awards[edit]The Hollywood Music In Media Awards, popularly known as the HMMA[1], are to acknowledge and the creative works of songwriters, composers, lyricists, producers, and performers in all forms of visual media. The inclusion of independent music categories (music genre) provides opportunities for emerging artists worldwide to achieve recognition and access to an event celebrating the music industry professionals. Every HMMA event includes four distinctive components: Red carpet (5:30pm - 8pm), VIP dinner banquet (6pm-8pm), award show (8pm - 10pm) and afterparty (10pm - 1am). The Hollywood Music In Media Awards first held Thursday, November 19, 2009, at The Highlands Hollywood[2] nightclub located in the Hollywood & Highland Center[3]. The inaugural event followed by a three-day music industry convention called MIMI CON (Music In Media Interactive Conference) at the Hollywood Renaissance Hotel, now operating as the Loews Hollywood Hotel.[4] As part of the conference, HMMA’s first Outstanding Career Achievement Award presented to Dave Mason.[5] Mason performed his classic song “We Just Disagree” with Jeff “Skunk Baxter[6] accompanying on guitar to the award banquet attendees. The inaugural HMMA show and the corresponding conference were innovative, refreshing, and commercial success. 2009 was the only year a three-day conference followed the HMMA’s main event. The HMMA remained at The Highlands Hollywood four consecutive years (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012). In 2013, to accommodate the attendance and expand show production, the HMMA moved to The Fonda Theater.[7] HMMA remained there for another three years (2014, 2015, and 2016). As growth and production value dictated, in 2017, the HMMA moved to a new venue, The Avalon Hollywood.[8] This venue proved more suitable for its level of technical production requirements and seating availability. The HMMA produced its ceremony at the Avalon ever since 2018, 2019 10th anniversary, and is currently scheduled for November 18, 2020. A ticketed event may not take place this year due to the current global health crisis COVID-19.[9] The HMMA producers prepare to have a virtual event if deemed necessary. The HMMA produces involved symposiums, (Two recent examples include the 2018 MUSIC CREATOR SYMPOSIUM[10] and 2019 SONGWRITING SYMPOSIUM[11]) lead before the hosted awards show. These panels and seminars designed to add extra value for music artists, industry professionals, and nominees in conjoined to attending the main event. Many music artists participating in the main event will fly to Los Angeles throughout the United States, as well as many travelers from other countries. HMMA CATEGORIES[edit]HMMA categories evolve and expanded over time. Music in Visual Media categories defines composition type (song or score) and specific associated media (film, video game, TV, commercial, trailer). Mainstream award shows[12] for visual mediums (film & TV) typically include a single Best Song and Best Score category. In contrast, the HMMA design includes a multitude of methods recognizing compositions and composers in specific genres and media. Such is the film score options, and the Inaugural HMMA had Best Original Score for Film as the category. Over time, this category (theatrical releases) expands to sub-genres. Best Original Score - Feature Film, Best Original Score - Animated Film, Best Original Score - SciFi/Fantasy Film, Best Original Score - Horror Film, Best Original Score - Documentary and Best Original Score - Independent Film. Michael Abels[13] announced during his acceptance speech[14]for US[15] film score, “Horror film music is a real thing!” Music Supervision introduced as award category in 2009, a first for any award show. HMMA considers music supervision as a creative effort, equally vital to production as music. From inception, HMMA considers video game music as significant as film and TV music. HMMA accepts submissions from around the globe. Foreign Language sub-categories exist, although not explicitly listed in the submittable categories. HMMA determines placement in foreign language sub-categories during review and evaluation. A film with a language other than English (subtitled or not) submitted for Original Score - Independent Film, deemed meritorious for a nomination, is placed in Original Score - Independent Film (Foreign Language). Music Genre categories provide opportunities for emerging artists not signed to a major record label. Genre categories exist for independent audio recordings unassociated with the visual medium. HMMA SUBMISSIONS, NOMINATIONS, and VOTING[edit]Submissions are made through the official HMMA website[60] using two available online forms: Music In Visual Media[61] and Music Genre.[62] In place of actual audio files, the form requests an online link for the review process. A fee is required to complete the submission form. All submissions are reviewed and evaluated by the HMMA Selections Committee. The first round of initial selections placed in a database and second round of reviews to reach a final consensus of nominations. The HMMA Voting Body determines winners. Voting is internal, confidential, and winners are only revealed during the awards show and posted for public access the following day. The Hollywood Music In Media Voting Academy was created as a statutory body to determine winners’ selection via a voting ballot of designated nomination categories within the Hollywood Music In Media Awards. Voting Membership includes music industry professionals, select members of the Society of Composers and Lyricists (SCL)[63], The Television Academy[64], the AMPAS Music Branch[65], NARAS[66], performing rights organizations[67], film music journalists, music executives, and HMMA Advisory Board[68] consultative body. Submission Policies and Guidelines: Anyone submitting works for consideration represents that they are the creators of the works submitted, own the rights, or possess the authority to enter the works for nomination consideration. There is no limit to the number of submissions entered, and submission fees are per entry. Music Genre submissions can be audio recordings only without having a visual counterpart. All entries are online only. It is the artist’s responsibility to ensure the functionality of links and web portals. There are no submission fee refunds. The Hollywood Music in Media Awards, while accepting entries throughout the year, reserves the right to open and close submission deadline(s) as deemed by HMMA. If possible, visual entries should be no more than 10 minutes in length. Edited clips that best represent music supporting visuals are preferred. Music will be evaluated based on melody, composition, lyric (when applicable), music-to-picture enhancement, and augmentation. Quality of performance and production will become examined. Visual submission categories (film, TV, video game, and all other forms of visual media) are for productions released from October 1 of the previous year to December 31 of the current year. The HMMA reserves the right to re-categorize entries and combine categories at its discretion. Music In Visual Media nominations will announce no later than 30 days before the HMMA gala. - Jrockgibson, you are welcome. I'm sorry to hear about your family's health problems – may they get well soon. There have been some improvements in your second draft, but it is still far too promotional. I'm still finding sentences like "The inaugural HMMA show and the corresponding conference were innovative, refreshing, and commercial success." The draft is promotional because it uses promotional terms and includes excessive details about the awards ceremony. Additionally, the draft needs to be copyedited more carefully. I'm noticing sentences like (missing words/errors in [brackets]) "These panels and seminars [are] designed to add extra value for music artists, industry professionals, and nominees in conj[unction with] attending the main event." For these reasons, this edit request is declined. Best, Altamel (talk) 20:44, 6 August 2020 (UTC)

(talk) Just finished the third round of Chemo this week! Thank you for your sincere thoughts regarding everything. Objective is to keep neutral point of view and I appreciate the feedback. Please include which information may not be helpful when possible. These edits have considered the purposed of redrafting in the material which provides conclusive facts, description, and organization regarding HMMA's. The old/current layout does not allow the article to establish what the HMMA's are, do, and will become. This draft may need expansion/edit but will hold more accurate than its current state. Hollywood Music in Media Awards[edit]The Hollywood Music In Media Awards, popularly known as the HMMA,[1] honor original music in song and score, including all forms of visual media in the respective industries of film, television, video games, trailers, commercial advertisements, documentaries, music videos, and special programs. The HMMA was the first to include Outstanding Music Supervision as the featured award category. HMMA nominations and winners have historically been representative of key awards shows announced months later. The annual HMMA event typically held the week before Thanksgiving, features live music performances, celebrity presenters, tributes to music industry icons, and awards for composers, songwriters, and performers. The HMMA also celebrates emerging, independent artists and music influencers worldwide for creative and innovative contributions. The 2020 Award show is virtual this year. The HMMA acknowledges songwriters' creative works, composers, lyricists, producers, and performers in all visual media forms. The inclusion of independent music categories (music genre) provides opportunities for emerging artists worldwide to recognize and access an event celebrating the music industry professionals. The Hollywood Music In Media Awards first held Thursday, November 19, 2009, at The Highlands Hollywood[2] nightclub located in the Hollywood & Highland Center.[3] The inaugural event led by a three-day music industry convention called MIMI CON (Music In Media Interactive Conference) at the Hollywood Renaissance Hotel, now operating as the Loews Hollywood Hotel.[4] In a part of the conference, HMMA's first Outstanding Career Achievement Award presented to Dave Mason.[5] Mason performed his classic song "We Just Disagree" with Jeff "Skunk Baxter [6] accompanying on guitar to the award banquet attendees. 2009 was the only year a three-day conference followed the HMMA's main event. As growth and production value dictated, in 2017, the HMMA moved to a new venue, The Avalon Hollywood.[8] This venue provided the level of technical production requirements and seating availability. The HMMA produced its ceremony at the Avalon ever since 2018, 2019, the 10th anniversary. A ticketed event may not take place in 2020 due to the current global health crisis COVID-19.[9] The HMMA produces involved symposiums (Two recent examples include the 2018 MUSIC CREATOR SYMPOSIUM [10] and 2019 SONGWRITING SYMPOSIUM[11]) lead before the hosted awards show. Many music artists participating in the main event will fly to Los Angeles throughout the United States, and many travelers attend from other countries. HMMA CATEGORIES[edit]HMMA categories such as Music in Visual Media categories define composition type (song or score) and specific associated media (film, video game, TV, commercial, trailer). Mainstream award shows [12] for visual mediums (film & TV) typically include a single Best Song and Best Score category. In contrast, the HMMA design recognizes compositions and composers in specific genres and media. Such recognition is the film score options and the Best Original Score for Film as the category. Over time, this category (theatrical releases) expands to sub-genres. Best Original Score - Feature Film, Best Original Score - Animated Film, Best Original Score - SciFi/Fantasy Film, Best Original Score - Horror Film, Best Original Score - Documentary, and Best Original Score - Independent Film. Such options have led to comments from Michael Abels[13] announced during his acceptance speech[14]for US[15] film score, "Horror film music is a real thing!" Music Supervision is recognized and introduced as an award category in 2009, a first for any award show.
