Though there are several sources, a lot of this article reads like an anthropological study by someone who doesn't necessarily know much about the Hmong culture generally. There is too much reliance on a single novel, and language that could be more neutral. It was also unclear for much of the article what was referring to traditional cultural and what was referring to current practices. Someone more knowledgeable should check this and clean up the sections so that the traditional practices no longer applicable are clearly labelled.Avory (talk) 17:27, 10 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
On top of that: There needs to be caution in use of Hmong: History of a People as the book (which was written by a self-described "political philosopher" but not by a specialist in the field) has been criticized in the 2000s by other authors for factual issues WhisperToMe (talk) 02:52, 12 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
In "Current Situation" the writer needs to understand and be able to interpret the actual meaning of each language phrase. The word "ruam" in hmong does does not mean "stupid" base on the context of the sentence.
