I removed the tags, since nothing was actually disputed here yet. Let's just say the article needs improvement, which it obviously does, and go from there? --Jpbrenna 08:58, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

History template

[edit]

How can the Old Persian period be 330BC-200CE if the first texts in Old Persian cuneiform are from 550BCE?????? Cpom 20:49, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

We had this discussion in the talk page of the actual incorrect template, if I recall correctly (I brought up the issue). Basically, if you can find reliable sources to back up specific year changes, please do so. Again, everyone pretty much agrees the years are way off, but nobody has been able to fix exact years of the beginning and ending of each era. If you can find a reliable source, please, please, please change the template. –jonsafari 21:30, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

So I´m changing it. The very wikipedia article on Ancient Persian cuneiform says the oldest texts are from the early Achaemenid period!!!Cpom 15:30, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I can´t change it! How do I edit that template????? Cpom 03:24, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Templates have their own page, so go here to edit that template. –jonsafari 21:50, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I´ve edited the template, at least its initial date of 300BC for old persian. But when did it end? Did it continue under Seleucid rule? Parthian????

The very MIDDLE PERSIAN article says that OP ended with Alexander and "the Middle Period" (Middle Iranian or Middle Persian) went from there to Islam.

"In the classification of the Iranian languages, the Middle Period includes those languages which were common in Iran from the third century B.C. (the fall of the Achaemenids) up to the seventh century A.D. (the fall of the Sasanians)."
