Not real
[edit]What is this? obviously not the 'real' page about MIT. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wolfensberger (talk • contribs) 20:23, 20 November 2006
- Correct, the link for the MIT article is in the lead (top of page). This specific article is named "History of MIT," not "MIT." For the latter, visit MIT. Zepppep (talk) 02:21, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
Coverage
[edit]Although informative in places, this article needs a lot of work, a very sad state of affairs as MIT celebrates its 150th anniversary. Coverage is very spotty, with long stretches of history skipped over or given cursory coverage. More and possibly better material may be moved here if other articles about MIT are trimmed in length or reorganized. Help is needed to share the work. Reify-tech (talk) 14:05, 22 April 2011 (UTC)
- The article still has some large gaps in coverage. For example, the early Rogers presidency and the selection of Runkle as a successor are completely omitted. There is a new MIT Press book by Stratton and Mannix that I will try to add to the reference list. Reify-tech (talk) 21:17, 31 December 2013 (UTC)
Also known as Boston Institute of Technology?
[edit]Was MIT ever called this? Zepppep (talk) 13:36, 23 July 2012 (UTC)
1916-1940 coverage is sketchy
[edit]Coverage of these years seems notably absent, spanning from the move to Cambridge to the advent of World War 2. Was it removed by vandalism, or was it never written? Reify-tech (talk) 00:25, 2 June 2014 (UTC)
Rewrite still needed
[edit]After working on the GA-rated article on Francis Amasa Walker, I noticed that 7 paragraphs of that article were simply cut-and-pasted to form the majority of the "Boston Tech" section of this article. This content forking is a very bad idea, as illustrated by the fact that updates and cleanups of the original article are not propagated to this article. I am not inclined to do repeated tandem edits to both articles; it would be better to just summarize the Walker article, or to include it by reference. There may be other instances of content forking in this article; a thorough evaluation and overhaul are badly needed. I have reduced the article rating to "C" in view of the multiple problems with this article as it stands today. Reify-tech (talk) 19:55, 9 September 2015 (UTC)
60s
