The War In Heaven
[edit]Wasn't sure whether it should be mentioned under Novels that the Daleks were originally going to be the 'Enemy' during the EDA arc involving the War in Heaven. Due to a satisfactory agreement with the Nation Estate not coming up (similar situation to how the new series almost didn't have a Dalek episode), the Enemy present in The Ancestor Cell was used instead. I don't have a citation because I can't remember where I read it (I'm fairly sure it's elsewhere on Wikipedia and it was probably mentioned in a DWM somewhere). Aldor 09:23, 7 July 2007 (UTC)
- Hehehe. Never mind. See the last point of The Ancestor Cell#Trivia in case anyone's interested. Aldor 09:25, 7 July 2007 (UTC)
Return of the Daleks
[edit]Moved from the article: [This Emperor] — evidently not Davros — Why? If the person who wrote that meant that the 2005 Emperor doesn't look the way Davros did when we last saw him, why not say that explicitly? Better still, why not let the pictures do the talking? Dan 00:35, 2 April 2006 (UTC)
- Depending on whether you count Big Finish's Terror Firma as canon - where Davros mutates into an actual Dalek and becomes the Dalek Emperor - it could very well be Davros, albeit a hugely-changed Davros. - SoM 02:43, 2 April 2006 (UTC)
I have added a section on the genesis arc, based on what I could tell from the trailor. Some of it is slightly conjectural, so it may need editing.--Warlorddagaz 18:56, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
- I removed it because most of it pretty much is speculative. Let's wait for the episode proper. --khaosworks (talk • contribs) 22:46, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
Short history of the Daleks
[edit]Why is there a need for a fork article? The summary is already in the main Dalek article under "History". --khaosworks (talk • contribs) 17:26, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
- I only did it because if I simply removed the summary from Dalek, you'd complain. So I put it somewhere out of the way.--Keycard (talk) 07:42, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
- If length is an issue, discuss how to cut it down, rather than slice it out entirely. Forking the article is unnecessary and causes more problems than it solves. --khaosworks (talk • contribs) 09:04, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Dalekmutant.jpg
[edit]Image:Dalekmutant.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Image copyright problem with Image:Davros.jpg
[edit]The image Image:Davros.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
- That this article is linked to from the image description page.
The following images also have this problem:

Victory of the Daleks
[edit]"The Daleks retrieved it, planning to create a new race of Daleks, but were unable to activate the capsule, as it couldn't identify them as pure Daleks, due to their DNA coming from Davros" Does this add up? Since Davros is a Kaled (I don't thionk this has ever been disputed?), surely the Daleks created from his cells they must be considered pure daleks? As such, the Progenator should have responded to their requests.

- Please keep in mind that the purpose of this talk page is to discuss improvements to the History of the Daleks article. It's not a forum for general discussions about Daleks or the stories in which they have appeared. You have accurately summarised the rationale given in Victory of the Daleks for the Progenator's inability to identify the 'Davros-spawned' Daleks as real Daleks. If you feel there are deficiencies in the plot which impact on the plausibility of the (fictional) Dalek history, then you might want to consider addressing this by adding critical commentary to the article.
- That said, the logic appears to be that although 'original Daleks' were the result of severe mutation of the Kaleds, they consider the resultant creatures to form the basis for their true and untainted bloodline and not the Kaleds themselves. Any Daleks created from material from another source (such as in 'Revelation of the Daleks'), or even subsequently from Kaled stock, are considered impure. Such is the Daleks obsessive hatred for all things non-Dalek, that they would view even Kaleds being an inferior species. Donlock (talk) 20:42, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
The above article should be merged into this one. It simply consists of a fictional history of the various Dalek empires, which is essentially redundant to this article. Additionally, it's entirely unreferenced and consists partly of original research. Any content worth saving from that article should be moved to this one, otherwise it should simply be redirected here. Robofish (talk) 12:49, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
- It's been a year and there are no objections, so I've gone ahead and redirected Dalek Empire to this article. Here's the old article in case someone wants import some of it's content in to this article. Remember to follow Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia tough, that's extremely important. Title changes for revived series
[edit]Titles like "Save the Daleks" and "The Emperor Survived" seem inappropriately dramatic and doesn't fit the tone of a wiki article. Since each section relates to a specific episode, can we change the titles to the names of their episodes instead? (i.e. "The Emperor Survived" becomes "Bad Wolf/Parting of the Way", "Save the Daleks" become "Asylum of the Daleks" and so forth?) ~ Bioran —Preceding undated comment added 12:32, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
- That would be great! Thanks. DonQuixote (talk) 12:33, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
