Use of term Dominion
[edit]As of today, the article includes the following "Under the Government of Ireland Act, 1920 a new dominion called Northern Ireland had been created." This reflects a misunderstanding of that Act and the term "Dominion". NI is part of the UK; it is not a separate dominion, new or old. The Act merely devolved power to a particuoar part of the UK. I will amend the article accordingly. 84.203.76.88 (talk) 20:23, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
The above is hardly surprising, the tone of the article was pre-1998 and indeed neglected its events in the lead
[edit]Various inflammatory connotations were used here before my recent edit, all very not neutral in Britain, in particular Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Why depart from consensus titles of individuals into rigid, staid old titles - it's ridiculous, it may have well as read Her Supreme Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland.
There is since 1998 no more role as the centre of full 'direct rule' as tritely stated, it is muted with a quite powerful Northern Ireland Assembly. - Adam37 Talk 22:27, 6 August 2013 (UTC)

Official residence of the British monarch
[edit]The article currently states that Hillsborough Castle is the official residence of King Charles III when visiting NI. Wouldn't it be more appropriate to say that it is the official residence of the British monarch, not King Charles personally? Lonegroover (talk) 08:28, 19 January 2023 (UTC)
- Due to the length of tenure of we can expect of modern monarchs, this could feel like some to be a quibble. But I'm supportive of this change, surely more correct? Mark83 (talk) 08:39, 19 January 2023 (UTC)
