An 1873 marriage record cites his birthplace as "Stachen, Sachen Weimen, Germany", an 1886 child's birth record as "Stanon Sax Weines, Germany," and the 1917 Blue Book as "Stanaw Saxon Weimar." The area is evidently the Grand Duchy of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach; the specific settlement in it is very probably Stanau. Doremo (talk) 04:22, 2 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
