Questionable Sources
[edit]The "Heritage Singers newsletter" and publications of the purported founder of this group cannot be considered to be reliable sources. In addition, there is a veritable dearth of widely known (or even respected in this particular category of music) sources that are being referenced in this article, which calls into question its veracity and the notability of this group. While I have personally heard of this group, there is little here that meets Wikipedia's general standards for articles. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Musicologism (talk • contribs) 04:58, 24 December 2023 (UTC)
Secondary Source Issue
[edit]User:Walter Görlitz, you recently re-added a Primary Sources flag here, despite there being a reference to a concert review by a secondary source in a foreign country testifying to the impact of the group's music there. Please help me to understand why, in your mind, this doesn't qualify. Why would the smuggling of cassette recordings in a Socialist country not be considered of encyclopedic value?--Funhistory (talk) 13:59, 1 September 2014 (UTC)
Discography Source Issue
[edit]User:Walter Görlitz, you added an Unreferenced tag to the Discography section, & I'm wondering if you can give me an example of what type of info would satisfy you that they exist, considering that I have copies of many of these LPs and CDs here in my house, and most of them are listed for sale on Amazon.com and the HeritageSingers.com websites. None of these have topped the international pop charts like the ones released by The Beatles and Elvis Presley, but surely there must be an acceptable form of Discography for less-successful musical recording artists. And regarding rare releases, I noticed that there are no references cited for the initial release of "Too Fast For Love" on Leathur Records by Motley Crue; yet no one has added an Unreferenced tag to it. How can Wikipedia readers know it actually exists?--Funhistory (talk) 05:37, 13 February 2015 (UTC)
- A complete discography from a source like AllMusic or CrossRhythms would suffice. Amazon or even iTunes won't suffice. Since you have all of the albums, including the catalogue numbers for each album would do.
- While you're updating, the discography should be chronological, with the oldest first, not alphabetical as it currently is.
- As for the entry at the other article, feel free to tag it with {{Citation needed}}. Walter Görlitz (talk) 05:43, 13 February 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for the info, Walter! I'll work on it over the course of the next week or two.--Funhistory (talk) 01:47, 14 February 2015 (UTC)
- The funny thing is AllMusic only lists their more recent issues, and completely ignores their 1970s activity, when they were most relevant. 78.26 (spin me / revolutions) 11:39, 13 February 2015 (UTC)
