1734 election etc.

[edit]
  • Burkes Peerage says that Thomas Foley was elected in 1734, not merely in 1742. It looks as if an election has been omitted from the list, but I do not have the sources to verify what is wrong.
  • I cannot idenfiy a Thomas Foley (listed here as IV) who lived 1778-1822. The dates of the 3rd baron were 1780-1833.
  • Also could some one with access to the sources improve the list of MPs for the city of Hereford, which seems very incomplete - or is there an article that I ahve missed? Peterkingiron (talk) 00:26, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thomas Foley (d. 1749) was returned for Hereford in 1734. He did not stand in 1741, but was returned for Herefordshire in 1742 in a by-election to succeed the 3rd Earl of Oxford and Earl Mortimer, late acceded to the peerage. Choess (talk) 01:35, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thomas Foley IV (1778–1822) represented Hereford & Droitwich; son of Hon. Andrew Foley (c.1748–1818), he the 3rd? son of Thomas Foley, 1st Baron Foley (1716-1777). Choess (talk) 01:48, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. Hon. Andrew was indedd the 3rd son and another longterm Foley MP. Peterkingiron (talk) 15:39, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
