References need checking

[edit]

I have doubts about the quality of the references in this article. The major references appear to be a Geocities site, a blog, and assorted German publications. Would someone please double check the references for reliability? --A More Perfect Onion (talk) 16:44, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

References

[edit]

The article only refers to one Geosites site which lists German immigrants to South Africa and includes a reference to Heinrich Schörbeck: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Meadows/7589/Names/Wanderung.html

Verwey’s New Dictionary of South African Biography, which lists Hendrik Spoorbek, is published by the highly respected South African Human Sciences Research Council. Rompel-Koopman’s publication is regarded as an Africana Historical Document, while Van der Walt & Benghial’s article is from a magazine. These wonders to behold is authored by the acclaimed explorer and writer Lawrence Green, author of numerous other works.

Van den Berg & Retief was a radio broadcast on one of South Africa’s largest radio stations. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 143.160.124.40 (talk) 11:06, 23 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
