Anonymous references

Adamsa123, hi. You might not have the answer, but I see it was you who added the following references in Dec. 2016 (here):

  • Harvcoltxt|Dolgopolsky|1999 and
  • Harvcoltxt|Blau|2010.

The Harvcoltxt template only works if the book details are added at least once, which is missing, so they lead to nothing. I have tried to figure them out: Dolgopolsky +1999 seems to have only one matching publication (From Proto-Semitic to Hebrew: Phonology: etymological approach in a Hamito-Semitic perspective). Blau + 1999 is a bit more confusing, as you have used a ref name, bbgd, which is not the abbrev. of his only 2010 book title I could find (Phonology and Morphology of Biblical Hebrew: An Introduction). Could you please see if I got your references right? Please also note that neither can be accessed online, so that one needs to take your word on it, which I'm sorry to say is never a good option, even without the template glitch. Maybe you can find other sources for the topic, which can be reached online? Thank you. Arminden (talk) 17:11, 20 September 2021 (UTC)

Nonsense from the very start?

"Historically, it is regarded as the language of the Israelites, Judeans and their ancestors."

So "Israelites, Judeans and their ancestors"? Weren't the Israelites the ancestors of the Judeans? And which known (?!) ancestors of the Israelites are known to have spoken Hebrew? Serious nonsense, please clarify. Arminden (talk) 17:32, 20 September 2021 (UTC)

"Israelites" became "Israelites and their ancestors" here, in 2012, an edit made by the anonymous "80.3.238.120", who is/are apparently not the most appreciated editor/s (see User_talk:64.56.88.246).

Another anonymous somebody, "80.3.238.120", added the Judaeans to the mix here, in September 2020. Please feel free to explain. Arminden (talk) 17:55, 20 September 2021 (UTC)

I'll modify the nonsense for now. Arminden (talk) 17:59, 20 September 2021 (UTC)

Page title

The title of this page is illogical. Either "Hebrew" is sufficiently ambiguous and the language is not the primary meaning, in which case "Hebrew" should redirect to Hebrew (disambiguation), or it is not, in which case this page should be titled "Hebrew". The redirect from "Hebrew" to the language article in itself already admits that the language is the primary meaning of "Hebrew". Opposing arguments in the last move discussion are fallacious: That it sounds like the singular of "Hebrews" is irrelevant, since names of articles about ethnic groups are always in the plural, and while it is typical for Wikipedia articles about languages to have a title "X language", there are many prominent exceptions, where the language is the primary topic. An argument analogical to the "Hebrews" argument can also be applied to "Latin", because the ethnic group from which the language originates is known as "Latins", yet the article about the Latin language is still found at Latin because the language is overwhelmingly the primary (though by far not the only widely used!) meaning of "Latin". --Florian Blaschke (talk) 17:52, 10 April 2023 (UTC)

Have you looked through previous move discussions both here and at Talk:Hebrew (disambiguation)? Largoplazo (talk) 18:58, 10 April 2023 (UTC)

Misspelling of name in text

in the History of Hebrew section, Scott Stripling is the correct spelling of the archaeologist.
