John Tinker

The article currently states:

At least one version of the hand mortar was probably invented by John Tinker in 1681.

The John Tinker linked to was born in 1700. His article mentions that his grandfather was a ship's captain. Perhaps it is his grandfather or father that the reference (Pollard's History of Firearms 1983 ed.) is referring to.
