[edit]The airport is now called the Great Barrier Reef Airport. How do I go about changing the article name? 139.168.204.109 07:36, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

Great Barrier Reef Airport → Hamilton Island Airport – WP:COMMONNAME per official website, Civil Aviation Safety Authority, Federal Government, Jetstar, Qantas and Virgin Australia. Whezthekeys (talk) 19:21, 9 January 2024 (UTC)
- Support: Per WP:COMMONAME and nom. A Google search for "hamilton island airport" has 25,300,000 results compared to "great barrier reef airport" which has 6,610,000 results. Plus, Google Maps uses the name "Hamilton Island Airport" as well. "Great Barrier Reef Airport" appears to be/was an official business name compared to its current trading name [1], however I think using this name as the article title could be slightly confusing/ambiguous to readers as the Great Barrier Reef itself stretches 2300 km on the Far North Queensland coast from Bundaberg in the south all the way to Cairns/Cape York Peninsula in the north. There's a lot of other airports in between that could probably claim to serve the "Great Barrier Reef" (e.g. Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Whitsunday Coast, Gladstone, Rockhampton, Bundaberg, etc). However, keep it as a redirect to this article. Fork99 (talk) 21:02, 9 January 2024 (UTC)
