WAG competitors' ages

[edit]

In the Official Report, a link to which is in the "References" section, an extended information on all competitors is presented (vol.1 page 697): place/date of birth, height, weight. I've compiled some data on women's gymnastics competition from there (I don't know, whether something would be worth mentioning in the article):

  • Average age of competitors: 22
  • Average age of teams: USSR - 24.5, Czechoslovakia - 22.7, Romania - 24.3. The youngest team was Sweden - 18.2, France was the oldest - 25.5
  • Youngest gymnast: Elfriede Hirnschall, Austria (15 - b. February 16, 1945)
  • Oldest gymnast: Dalia Sammer, Portugal (31 - b. December 26, 1928); second oldest - Sofia Muratova, USSR, b. July 13, 1929

The averages could be deemed as original research, which is discouraged (see the link); Youngest and oldest would be quoting the source though, and could be included (In my opinion) -- Ratarsed (talk) 12:14, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
