What is the depth?

[edit]

What is the depth? It looks like a few thousand metres?49.178.184.162 (talk) 06:27, 6 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I've added the estimated average depth and the range of estimates for the maximum depth to the infobox of the article. - Donald Albury 14:08, 6 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Images in the Geology section

[edit]

Why are two images, one of ships and oil rigs and the other ostensibly of the Cantarell Field, stuck willy-nilly at the head of the Geology section, with no explanation or reference to either of them in the text? A reader would have no idea why we're showing these here, or what the "Cantarell Field" could possibly be (there is nothing, other than this name, in the caption). The other image in here, captioned "Sediment in the Gulf of Mexico", is equally out of place, but at least it shows part of the Gulf and landforms bordering the north of it. rowley (talk) 20:30, 6 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
