Spelling "Guaiacum" or "Guajacum"?

[edit]

I can't understand why Buddleja is spelled thus and Guaiacum thus. Both use the long I that many modern readers unfamiliar with Latin misunderstand as being a "J" in Linnaeus's first iteration. This seems inconsistent to me. (I think it should be "Buddleia" and "Guaiacum".)Cooke (talk) 21:03, 30 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Does Guaiacum resin = Guaiacol?

[edit]

Being bold, I have tentatively wikilinked Guaiacum resin as Guaiacol because they seem to be the same ... but a subject matter expert should know better. --Eliyahu S Talk 06:44, 29 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
