This page is filled with errors. It confuses work done at the Gas Dynamics Lab (GDL) and by the later organization RNII with work done by the original GIRD group. GIRD was started in 1931, not 1924.
Probably needs to be completely rewritten from scratch. DonPMitchell 22:10, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, full of mistakes. I went there and saw I left a comment two years ago, hehe. This article basically sucks. If I have time I will try to rewrite it. DonPMitchell (talk) 16:51, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
Fascist Sword Forged in the USSR
[edit]I'm deleting some unsubstantiated claims about the connection between GIRD and Germany. These are based on a misunderstanding of Dyakov and Bushuev's book (which in fact argues that the USSR helped Germany rearm, not the other way around).
Chertok's book, "Rockets and People" describes the Katyusha rocket program as more of a skunk works. It was demonstrated with some trepidation, because they did not have permission to do it. That conflicts with the opinion of someone that it was simply a copy of a German weapon (which it does not physically resemble at all).
Incidently, this did not take place in GIRD, it was done in RNII, an organization created later. DonPMitchell (talk) 23:09, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

Update of article
[edit]Have carried out a fairly major update of the article, mainly using Chertok and Siddiqi as sources, plus some references came from the Russian Jet Propulsion Study Group article. Also removed some incorrect and / or uncited information. Any Editors have any questions let me know. Ilenart626 (talk) 12:02, 15 June 2022 (UTC)
