Multiple articles
[edit]In addition to this article on the Grimke Sisters, there are articles on Sarah Grimke (1792 - 1873) and Angelina Grimke Weld (1805 - 1879). Historical references often group the two together, so there is justification for this arrangement. However, the original editor of this article evidently copied from another internet site -- while asserting that the material is used by permission, no proof of permission was included. I believe all three articles should be reworked to reduce potential copyright questions and draw some distinction between the two sisters. But, ultimately, merging them all might be best. Comments welcome. WBardwin 22:12, 21 July 2005 (UTC)
- I agree that having three articles may not be best, but the stories of the sisters are intertwined, so merger would not be easy. --DThomsen8 (talk) 22:36, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
- True that. Articles should be merged. NE Ent 11:41, 19 January 2023 (UTC)
Early life and education
[edit]This section has some confusing/unclear information. Specifically, the passage: "Until 1854, Theodore was often away from home, either on the lecture circuit or in Washington. After that, financial pressures forced him to take up a more lucrative profession. For a time they lived on a farm and operated a boarding school. Many abolitionists, including Elizabeth Cady Stanton, sent their children to the school. Eventually, it grew to become a cooperative, the Raritan Bay Union."
I assume Theodore is Theodore Weld. There is no mention of anyone by this name previously in the article, though. Who is "they" referring to? ("For a time they lived on a farm.") — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sweeperchick (talk • contribs) 15:12, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
And in the paragraph before, there's the assertion that they stopped lecturing in public, without ever mentioning that they ever began lecturing in public. — Preceding bluespapa comment added by Bluespapa (talk • contribs) 05:24, 23 October 2015 (UTC)
Re: familial relations - this article requires a rewrite.
[edit]Parts of this article is incoherent and requires a comprehensive rewrite. It's unclear what was the relationship between the people mentioned, as names pop up without any previous intro. I am surprised that the highly esteemed and vaunted editors of Wikipedia missed this. — Ineuw talk 21:04, 3 February 2015 (UTC)
- So, jump on in and do what you can to make it clearer. BMK (talk) 22:55, 3 February 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for the encouraging words. It will have to wait for awhile. Previous commitments on Wikisource. While proofreading, I came across a mention of the subject and I looked here to see if there was an article. — Ineuw talk 23:08, 3 February 2015 (UTC)

First American female abolitionists
[edit]This is a vague claim, others who are recorded at a similar date include Elizabeth Margaret Chandler, Amy Matilda Cassey, Sarah H. Earle etc. etc. All the best: Rich Farmbrough, 17:23, 27 March 2019 (UTC).
