Fair use rationale for Image:Gfpk armoiries.png

[edit]

Image:Gfpk armoiries.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Cardinal direction relative to Taschereau Boulevard (north-west or east-south)

[edit]

Although it is true that Taschereau boulevard is officially an east-west provincial road (because it is even numbered), in fact it is only oriented in the east-west direction in Laprairie and Brossard. In Greenfield Park and Longueuil, the boulevard loops to the north to reach the Jacques-Cartier bridge. If you look at the map, the old part of Greenfield Park is clearly to the south-west, and the new part to the north-east. I think that refering each part as "west" and "east" conforms more to popular perception, as most people in the South Shore believe that the river is to the "north", although when you are in St-Lambert, Greenfield Park, Longueuil, etc. the river is in fact to the west. Someone crossing the bridge and continuing on Taschereau would think he is going south (although initially he's going east), but because of the way Taschereau curves, by the time he reaches Greenfield Park he's almost right. I think that referring to the two parts of Greenfield Park as "East" and "West" reflects popular conception and contradicts the least the map that is included with the article. The way it is now (old GFP to the "north" and new GFP to the "south"), the introduction contradicts the map. AlexPlante (talk) 23:35, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I knew that Taschereau was a North-South boulevard Taschereau in the former city of Longueuil. But I wasn't aware of that for Greenfield Park/St-Hubert. You've brought some great arguments. So you can put back east and west if you prefer that.
