Photos

[edit]

User:JHR2 removed picture gallery with the following comment.(These pictures don't belong in the "Churches" subsection. Plus, I think "Greenacre Public School" is more representative of the entire community, than pictures of private independent schools.)

Photos of landmarks in Greenacre have been deleted. I have just reinstated them. Contributors are welcome to add any new photos from the suburb but should not remove existing photos that have been provided by other contributors. J Bar 05:41, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Photo were again removed by anonymous user with the following comment. (This is very inconsisent with other comparable articles. Random independent schools are not landmarks simply because of their underlying presence in a suburb. Perhaps this should be discussed.)

I disagree. If this article is incomplete, then contributors are welcome to provide more photos and information. If contributors would like to have a photo of a public school included in the article then they are welcome to provide it. All schools are landmarks in the suburb. As perfect examples, if you have a look at the suburb articles on Strathfield, Ashfield, Arncliffe and Rockdale you will see extensive information and photos of all types of schools and places of worship. The article on Greenacre is only getting started. Please feel free to add information and photos but pklease do not remove existing contributions.J Bar 23:02, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Postcode

[edit]

I used to live in Greenacre and it is to my understanding that the postcode is 2160 not 2190 as it was 2160 while i was living in this suburb. I'm changing it if I am wrong change it back.TeePee-20.7 13:16, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Greenacre is 2190, Merrylands is 2160. Other postcodes around greenacre are 219x e.g. punchbowl and lakemba are 2196 and 2195 respectively etc... Quick lookup on the Australia Post site also confirms 2190. Blu3d 01:59, 10 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh ok I must have just got mixed up then with the 9 and the 6. TeePee-20.7 06:53, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The "Schools" Section..

[edit]

So far, this is what it says:

"Greenacre is the site of three public primary schools, Chullora Public School, Banksia Road Primary School, Greenacre Public School. Greenacre Public School has one Year 5/6 Opportunity Class, made up of 15 Year 5 and 15 Year 6 Students. Greenacre also has various private schools such as Greenacre Baptist Christian Community School, St John Vianneys Primary School, Al Noori Muslim Primary School, Malek Fahd Islamic School, An-Nahyan Islamic School and Sydney Full Gospel Church School."

So can I ask: how exactly is "Greenacre Public School has one Year 5/6 Opportunity Class, made up of 15 Year 5 and 15 Year 6 Students" relevant? It seems redundant, out of place and pointless. I suggest it should be removed. Gyper 00:48, 2 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pictures

[edit]

Hey, I believe one of your pictures is now completely outdated. The main picture of McGuigan Place in Greenacre is no longer there - having been removed and now replaced with a newer structure and square, hence I don't think the current picture belongs there anymore. Gyper (talk) 12:43, 1 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I'm aware of the new constructions at Greenacre. The last time I was out there it had not been completed, so I was unable to take an updated photo. I suggest it stay with the article until we get an updated one and then it can still be kept somewhere as a historical photo. J Bar (talk) 12:54, 1 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

History

[edit]

128 Greenacre Rd is 'the house that Nino built', from the 1966 film They're a Weird Mob. See that page for a reference. Grassynoel (talk) 08:09, 3 June 2009 (UTC) Founded in 1699?? That was prior to the First Fleet... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eaglemist (talkcontribs) 06:26, 16 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, the reference to They're a Weird Mob should be included in the 'popular culture' entry. 122.151.242.178 (talk) 05:30, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
