To my knowledge the development is not known simply as Springfield. However, there need not be two pages on the one specific area so I am proposing a merger or sorts, resulting in a redirect from one page to the other, whichever is decided to be the more correct page name. Merger Proposal with Springfield, Queensland

[edit]

New to this so not sure if I am doing this right...this seems to be the main page for the Greater Springfield city of which Springfield,_Queensland is a suburb of (see map of area). Considering that there isn't much available on the Springfield,_Queensland page, and what it does mention is also on the Greater Springfield, Queensland page, shouldn't it be merged? Furthermore, wouldn't it be better to have the city as the main page rather than the suburb (as has been done in previous mergers) because the city has expanded so much since the 2006 merge? Previous conversations regarding mergers is available here for further discussion points. We have this situation all the time. We have Brisbane (the town) and Brisbane City (the suburb). We have Maroochydore (urban area) and Maroochydore (suburb). We have Buderim (the urban area) and Buderim (suburb). So we have the same situation here - one article Greater Springfield, Queensland that should address the big issues of the masterplanned community as a whole and another Springfield, Queensland that addresses the specific suburb within Greater Springfield. Now obviously there will be some overlap in these situations (e.g. if a key piece of big picture infrastructure happens to be located in the central suburbs, it may get mentioned in both articles), but generally there are differences. The population of Greater Springfield is clearly different to that of Springfield, its boundaries are different etc. Greater Springfield has a state high school and a university campus but the suburb of Springfield doesn't (they are in the suburb of Springfield Central). Naturally the article on Greater Springfield should name and link to all the articles for the individual suburbs and conversley the articles for the individual suburbs should say they are part of the Greater Springfield masterplan (I believe this is already the case). Well that seems to make sense then - so the Springfield page should probably be fleshed out and provide links to the Greater Springfield page where possible. Luna.Maree (talk)
