The illustration "Commodore Farragut" in "The East Coast" paragraph should be replaced with an item already in Wikipedia Commons,

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Appletons%27_Farragut_David_Glasgow_-_Farragut%27s_Entry_into_Mobile_Bay_by_William_Page.jpg

that shows an image of the actual painting presented to the Grand Duke. I spent two hours trying to change the image myself and was unable to discover how to do so. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.250.255.99 (talk) 04:58, 6 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Old newspapers

[edit]

I suspect much material in this article comes from, perhaps even copypasted, the 1800-newspapers used as sources. This is not ideal, it sets a tone not fitting Wikipedia. More summary of historybooks would be an improvement. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 09:28, 12 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting difference: The russian WP-article has one sentence about the Duke and USA. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 09:12, 14 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
