[edit]Ms Cunard also co-wrote and directed the Universal film THE PURPLE MASK in 1917, serialized in newspapers later that year. The heroine is a morally virtuous crime-fighter, anti-anarchist and benefactor of the poor whose secret identity is Patricia Montez. She is a crack shot, aeroplane pilot and Queen of the Underworld (such title having been given her by her followers, the Parisian Apaches, whom she had bested but spared). Think a cross between Batman and Wonder Woman and you'll be close.[1]
