Putting the article together
[edit]Hey!, I just post the information I found. I need some help to put it together. What's the part that needs clarification. Miss Bono (zootalk) 14:33, 13 May 2013 (UTC)
- The part that says "It's not a song about people being graceful in their actions but covering over the cracks", presumably a quote of Bono's, was posted without quotations around the statement, making for very confusing reading and potentially a copyright violation if it is being passed off as original writing by a Wikipedia editor. I've put quotations around the statement under the assumption that it is a direct quote from Bono. The sentence that needs clarity is this (because I have no idea what it's trying to say): "Bono explains the way he sees Grace, as some kind of Christ's action to deal with the sins"... - Oops!, I forgot to post the quotations around that part. So sorry. Thanks for fixing it.
Look, in U2 by U2 Bono said this: "Christ's ministry really as a lot to do with pointingout how everybody is a screw-ip in some shape or form, there's no way around it. But then He (I assume Bono was refering to God) was to say, well I am going to deal with those sins for you." And I think that that whole description is about Grace. I was trying to put the ideas together to formulate the sentence. If you get my point, please fix it. Thanks. Miss Bono (zootalk) 15:25, 13 May 2013 (UTC)
History of The Article
[edit]I found this making some search, I would like to know if this works for the article::::...
The central character in this song is Grace. Through the song her inner emotions are juxtaposed with how she appears from the outside. Lines like "She carries a pearl in perfect condition" and "when she walks on the street, You can hear the strings, Grace finds goodness in everything" refers to how she is perceived by others. However she holds a lot of emotion and pain on the inside as shown in the lines, "she covers the shame" and "she carries a world on her hips, No champagne flute for her lips, No twirls or skips between her fingertips." She appears so beautiful to the world and so caring because she holds all the sadness on the inside, where other people don’t see it. Through the song she appears as a solitary person, this is the result of her holding all emotion on the inside, effectively isolating herself. By doing this she makes herself very lonely in her suffering. The line, "she covers the shame," refers to something in her past that she must hide. Her outer beauty helps to cover a tragic past.
The song can also be interpreted as a personification of God's grace. "She covers the shame" shows that the everlasting love of God penetrates the shame of man.
