Tasmanian Parliament

[edit]

Was well supportive of HEC projects at the time - it is on the historical record as such, and the Lake Pedder events would support the fact SatuSuro 01:03, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lakes project tag

[edit]

Is needed for Lake Gordon - not the dam - there is a spearate article - this is an aticle about a built strucutre? SatuSuro 23:59, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I understand. The main reason it was tagged was that the article includes {{infobox lake}}. As there is a separate article about the lake, the infobox should only be used on the later. -- User:Docu
Just removed another lakes tag - this is the article about the dam - the Lake Gordon article is the lake article SatuSuro 05:56, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please note

[edit]

This is the DAM - structure article - the lake/reservoir article is separate :) SatuSuro 05:19, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The dam is here; the reservoir is here; and the power station is here. Rangasyd (talk) 14:24, 26 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thin

[edit]

This dam looks incredibly thin in the picture, compared with other dams I have seen. Could someone add some details of its technical specifications to the article please? Choalbaton (talk) 22:29, 20 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You are probably thinking of arch-gravity dam or gravity dam which rely on some downward force of the water against the dam to make it stronger. Gravity dams can get pretty thick and are used when the channel is very wide. The Gordon Dam is an arch dam which because of the narrower channel than say the Hoover Dam needs only to be a bit thicker than the steel frame within. Take a look at File:Roosevelt Dam 1911.JPG for another example. ZabMilenko 07:31, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Electric?

[edit]

Is this actually a hydro-electric dam? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alevchuk (talkcontribs) 04:46, 10 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. I added something about it to the article, but more information is at Lake Pedder. ZabMilenkoHow am I driving? 05:23, 10 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The purpose of the dam is to generate hydroelectricity. The dam is not hydroelectric. See Gordon Power Station for information on the power plant. Rangasyd (talk) 14:26, 26 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Copyvio stuff

[edit]

This article seems to have been created with some info copied directly from this page. I removed the obvious line but perhaps the rest of the article needs a thorough checking as well. ZabMilenko 10:40, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The page was citing wikipedia. My mistake. ZabMilenko 10:42, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Merger

[edit]

Hello. I noticed that the topics related to this engineering project is divided into three different articles (The Dam, its Reservoir, and its Powerhouse). Normally in most cases, as with all other similar articles, these topics are together in one article with a dam infobox, and is separated only if the topics are too large to be merged. Please do share your views. If no one opposes, I will carry out the move by tomorrow or so, as this does not seem controversial. Rehman(+) 14:08, 3 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Did not merge Lake Gordon; the subject seems to be of significant notability. Rehman(+) 05:44, 4 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
