Gombe, Gombe → Gombe, Nigeria – Since Gombe is a disambiguation page, 'Nigeria' should be added so as not to make the page name seem like it's repeated. Josedimaria237 (talk) 18:39, 4 December 2021 (UTC)
- Comment The current title is correct per WP:PLACEDAB, however, I believe that policy needs improvement. See discussion at Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (geographic names)#WP:PLACEDAB and disambiguating by state/province. 162 etc. (talk) 22:24, 4 December 2021 (UTC)
@162 etc.: The article's title is not correct. In Nigeria, the commonly used name is 'Gombe, Gombe State' but since this is Wikipedia, 'Gombe, Nigeria' should be used. Josedimaria237 (talk) 15:45, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for the insight on local common usage. Per the current version of WP:PLACEDAB, "when (disambiguation) tags are required for places in (...) Nigeria, (...) use the name of the state (...) if the place lies within a single such entity." This would lead us to the title of Gombe, Gombe State. "Gombe, Nigeria" seems like a fine title, but it contradicts the current policy; I urge all that are interested to have a look at the discussion I linked above. 162 etc. (talk) 17:42, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
- Support there is more than 1 capital so something like Gombe (capital) wouldn't be an option so this somewhat avoids the repetition. Crouch, Swale (talk) 09:39, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
@Crouch, Swale: 'Gombe, Nigeria' is more acceptable. In Nigeria, the state is referred to as Gombe State not Gombe. Josedimaria237 (talk) 15:41, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
- Yes I'd also support that, I see you're changed the request to the country. Crouch, Swale (talk) 17:20, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
