More vandalism

[edit]

Okay this is rediculous....i don't know who keeps vandalising the freakin goldfish page but whoever they are should probably get some form of a life. This is just rediculous. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.251.74.164 (talk) 00:56, August 23, 2007 (UTC)

Why were goldfish named goldfish if the original snack was white?

yes Do we really need to answer that? --Zombie Jeff

The name of the person who holds the record for eating the most goldfish is mentioned--how about the number of goldfish eaten?

Someone has been vandalising the Golfish segment like crazy...we should watch it frequently - Ckolar612

Maybe we should start placing Template:Vw-n on the vandalizing IPs' user pages, according to Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. -- VGF11 03:36, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah i've also seen vandalism on the Goldfish page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.168.181.12 (talk)

Goldfish Crisps

[edit]

Goldfish Crisps should be added to the article, possibly under a discontinued section (if it is discontinued). -- VGF11 22:36, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

So much vandalism...

STEPHANIE LOVES GOLDFISH BUT SHE IS SAD THAT ONLY 40% OF THE GOLDFISH SMILE BACK )))-: — Preceding unsigned comment added by YAYAYAYA69 (talkcontribs) 10:04, 10 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Because of the rampant vandalism of this article, I removed "Dan Young, of Scoharie, NY, who loves Goldfish Snack Crackers, holds the world record for most goldfish eaten (7,983) in one serving" until it is verified, since the article once read "Michele Raisman, of Warminster Pa., holds the world record for most goldfish eaten." -- VGF11 00:34, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The addition of this information may have been vandalism in the first place. See edits by 71.225.219.143 and this version of the article -- VGF11 23:52, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Smiles?

[edit]

Does anyone know when the chicks were picked up at the bar? I looked this up to find a history and there wasn't one. IMFromKathlene 01:17, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have any evidence (ie: a picture) where there weren't any smiles? Until you do, they've always had smiles. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.38.242.66 (talk)

Not really. Until evidence is found, neither is true. -- VGF11 00:14, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Gosh darnit, I knew I should've kept a secret stash under my bed ;) Well, maybe someone will see this and photograph their extremely stale goldfish crackers they found in the back of their cabinet. Or maybe I'm crazy and never noticed the smiles until recently. IMFromKathlene 03:25, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I definitely remember a time when they didn't have smiles -- in the mid-nineties they were added, maybe '96 or '97. I haven't really been able to find any proof, but I know I'm not crazy!  Ethan  02:44, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm looking at WikiAnswers and someone there says they were added in the late 90s, but it's not exactly a reliable source: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/When_did_they_put_the_smile_on_Pepperidge_Farm_-_Goldfish_Crackers IMFromKathlene (talk) 05:32, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
A-HA! I knew I was right! [1] I'll update the article since this seems to be a common question. --Ethan (talk) 04:25, 11 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Add some Pictures

[edit]

Every other article has pictures. I know pictures of Goldfish are easy to find. http://images.google.com. Just type in Pepperidge Farm Goldfish. most of the picture sare small, but that's a good thing, since we only need a couple thumbnails for this article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.38.242.66 (talk)

Good point. Goldfish themselves are easy to find, so maybe someone even could take a picture of them and upload it to Wikipedia. I'll see if I can request it. -- VGF11 00:10, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I requested a photo and added {{Image requested}} to this page. 63.165.191.233 04:08, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Goldfish cookies

[edit]

Whatever happened to Goldfish chocolate and vanilla cookies? Not the graham ones, but the ones that tasted like shortbread, I think. Did they discontinue them? I remember they were available in the early nineties, possibly later. Anyone else remember these? If there's any information about them, it should be in the article, but I've searched and turned up nothing. Graymornings 04:59, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Goldfish Jingle

[edit]

I remember the jingle being different than what's listed. I don't want to change anything because I don't know how accurate my memory is, but here are the lyrics. The old website (www.pfgoldfish.com before it was changed) actually had a game where you could listen to the jingle and change the lyrics to make it weird.

Here's our totally awesome and epic and cool jingle for goldfish
We wrote a song for goldfish
The wholesome snack that smiles back
Until you bite their heads off
Do you see the fishes swimming
Oh look, the pretzel's winning
(Spoken) Doesn't that make you feel good about goldfish?
(Sung) Here's our jingle for goldfish
Those (something like "cheesy little" or "crunchy little") goldfish
Oh look we're at the part where we say that they're baked and not fried.
Did you know they're made with real cheese
Even though they look like fishies
The snack that smiles back, goldfish' goldfish are the best i love goldfish and if anyone hates goldfish can burn in the firey lake on venus otherwise known as flakeynus! :) This version's considerably longer than the two listed in the article. Should I add it? Can anyone confirm these lyrics? Thanks. CompGrl323 17:32, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Star Fish

[edit]

I saw an advertisement for gold Fish in TV Guide Magizine, and it said some boxes of goldFish will now have Star Fish mixed in to suport a charity for heart disease or somthing. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Johnnywalterboy (talkcontribs) 19:51, August 22, 2007 (UTC).

Steel Goldfish?

[edit]

I've never heard of steel goldfish, and a google search didn't provide good results... can anyone verify their existence?

Also, were Goldfish Crisps discontinued? I know I asked this before, but I didn't get much of an answer and I haven't seen them for a year at least. -- VGF11 23:27, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Umm...just saying...use common sense. Steel is a metal. They'd totally make goldfish outta that. Good thing someone removed it. 72.148.219.137 (talk) 21:43, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

discontinued

[edit]

Goldfish crackers have been discontinued! it's really sad but it's true the lady at a store said that the company who makes them discontinued them :(

71.140.80.167 (talk) 03:23, 28 July 2008 (UTC) Are you high, or just incredibly stupid? They still make Goldfish. - 206.116.3.226 (talk) 03:12, 15 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

George Mueller?

[edit]

Who keeps vandalizing this? I'm removing the supposed "George Mueller" variant from the list. 72.148.219.137 (talk) 21:43, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Manufacturer

[edit]

'Goldfish are snack crackers manufactured by Pepperidge Farm, a division of the Campbell Soup Company.'
That can't be true! Goldfish are snack crackers manufactured by anyone. Or this article could refer to the American situation. At least here in Finland we've had those from several makers. And I doubt the mentioned Pepperidge Farm has brought anything here. If so, I haven't seen those. 82.141.95.39 (talk) 22:38, 16 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, this page could have a American point of view tag easily. 85.217.44.99 (talk) 18:06, 10 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Characters

[edit]

Shouldn't we put "characters' on the page in the commercials section?--MegGriffin55 (talk) 19:02, 26 June 2011 (UTC) Never mind.--MegGriffin55 (talk) 01:39, 8 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"Commercials" section reads like, well, a commercial...

[edit]

...do we really need this nonsense in here? Is the content of a specific snack commercial encyclopedic material? -- 88.78.196.75 (talk) 18:40, 6 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Generally, no, we do not give details of specific ad campaigns. Typically, its a case of recentism: favoring current high-profile content (from primary sources, no less) simply because it is being thrust in our faces right now. These crackers have been around for decades, but the advertising details editors are trying to edit are strictly focused on very recent advertising. Some advertising content will cross over the threshold. It's kinda hard to imagine an article on the Big Mac without mentioning "two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese...", for example. How do we decide? Simple: Inclusion-worthy material will be discussed in independent reliable sources discussing the subject. An article discussing the Big Mac at length will mention the "Big Mac Attack". Similar articles on Goldfish will not give a laundry list of fish character names with "TBA" as the name of the voice actor (which repeatedly shows up here). Instead, that is material either taken directly from the ads or pulled from blogs and such around the 'net. It does not belong here. - SummerPhD (talk) 11:48, 23 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
As mentioned on the IP's talk page, the list of characters is absurdly trivial. If independent reliable sources discuss this magical fairytale land obliquely referred in 30 second cracker commercials, we might have something to add. It is highly unlikely that any such source exists. - SummerPhD (talk) 13:42, 28 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Inserted Facts

[edit]

I added some facts between the history section and different shapes and colors section.I also added the Legal Issues section. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Airrick321 (talkcontribs) 08:04, 12 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Epic Crunch

[edit]

There has been a new line of Goldfish crackers called "Epic Crunch" they advertize on the bag that they "pack a punch of flavor" and "they are twice as big". They are tortilla chips in the shape of a Goldfish cracker and then seasoned. RandomManScreamingChandelier (talk) 17:02, 11 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Crackers need love

[edit]

Guys, I know they're just crackers, but can't the lead history section be a bit more comprehensive? If not, maybe at least extend one of the other important sections, like the legal issues section.

New flavor needs to be added to section https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goldfish_(cracker)#Flavor-Blasted_varieties

New flavor is Cheddar Jack'd

https://www.pepperidgefarm.com/product/flavor-blasted-cheddar-jackd/ Mattproy (talk) 03:19, 22 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

no Declined: This article is not a brochure for new cracker flavors see WP:RELEASENOTES. Indeed, I have removed this section about "flavor blasted sections" as being trivial, secondary to the main flavors, and counter to WP:BROCHURE. Most of the content in that section was unsourced also. This article should not be used as a platform to advertise or otherwise showcase Pepperidge Farm's latest flavors. Flavor Blasted Flavors

[edit]

Do flavors of the Flavor Blasted variety (i.e. Xtra Cheddar) still get listed under the flavors section? There was a previous article in the talk page mentioning Flavor Blasted flavors, but I don't fully understand what they were talking about. I added a bullet for the flavor Xtra Cheddar, and I am currently unsure whether to undo it or leave it. Microwavedfork (talk) 01:29, 15 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
