Rubber guard

[edit]

I think including information about rubber guard would be good for the article, since the gogo is one of the weapons when using it. Thesaddestday 01:46, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

And no mention of eddie bravo, yet talk of the loco plata? I think he should get some kudos since he alone is responsible for its widespread use in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts.
Why is the fight between Sinosic and Tamura on neither man's record? Was it a worked match? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.133.205.31 (talk) 03:58, 9 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Because it was a RINGS Rules match. No closed hand striking and no striking on the ground at all with rope escapes. It was not what is considered full MMA rules. It was a real match but also may have been looked at as Pro Wrestling because of the rope escapes. (ElvisSinosic (talk) 03:47, 10 October 2009 (UTC))[reply]
All the other RINGS rules matches are listed on their records, as well as the records of all the other fighters that fought in RINGS. Something stinks here... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.133.205.31 (talk) 14:20, 11 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Actually no they are not. RINGS started in 1991. Tamura jumped to RINGS at the start. Tamura's record starts in 1995. And even then there is only 1 match in 95 and 2 in 96. It's not til 97 that they really start adding matches and RINGS starts using more MMA style matches (closed fist striking). There are lots of matches not available, especially in RINGS which folded. My reasoning was that the open hand and no striking on the ground with Rope escapes did not make it full MMA. Of course I am also not responsible for records. It could be RINGS choice not to include it as a match result. It could also be that many considered the RINGS rules matches to be Pro Wrestling regardless of whether they were real or predetermined. There is nothing stinking about the match. I personally would love to say it was a work so the loss doesn't look bad to me. But the fact is I lost and it was one horribly looking match (other than the first 4 or so minutes). (ElvisSinosic (talk) 01:36, 12 October 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Use In Professional Wrestling

[edit]

The Undertaker does the triangle choke not the gogoplata. Mr. C.C. (talk) 08:34, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Looks more like a dragon sleeper to me. Either way, it's not a gogoplata. I'm lazy, someone who regularly edits MMA stuff can tag it for a citation and delete it. Desirsar (talk) 08:52, 13 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The image I supplied of the first occurence of the Gogoplata was removed by a bot. Can I query the reasoning behind this? Or was it an automated error? (ElvisSinosic (talk) 03:45, 10 October 2009 (UTC))[reply]
