General questions

[edit]

I just read the article in full and made some general changes, most of them mechanical. I think the article in its current state is fine, quite informative, and definitely an interesting read. It reads like a "removed" but subtly pro-democracy narrative, and mainly focuses on criticism. Of course, given the nature of the situation and the overwhelmingly negative reactions these actions evoked, this is understandable. That said, articles like this about controversies should focus more on narrating the events rather than channeling critiques from various individuals. In addition, more "balancing" points of view would be desired, but not a necessity.

My biggest concern, then, is the fact that readers are given no background on the events whatsoever; i.e. there is no context. I would suggest that a "Background" section, however brief, be added to the page, explaining, in the very least, that these June 4 vigils are a regular occurence in Hong Kong, Hong Kong's political landscape in terms of its pro-Beijing and pro-democracy factions, and the sensitivity of the territory over anything seen as an "infringement" on its autonomy, or freedom of speech in general. That aside, I think the article is fluid, informative, interesting, and well-organized. Colipon+(Talk) 03:14, 10 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • While it may be arguable that we do not need two Fair Use images for the article, I uploaded the image above as it is a better depiction of the subject itself. The existing image is also a FU image, and shows it in its setting. I feel that both are of equal importance. However, only one is proposed for deletion. I don't get it... --Ohconfucius ¡digame! 03:59, 6 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
