Requested move 15 April 2018

The result of the move request was: consensus not to move the pages as proposed at this time, per the discussion below. Dekimasuよ! 01:44, 20 April 2018 (UTC)
– This page should be moved, per WP:DIFFCAPS, since God of war already redirects to the mythological gods. "God of War" is clearly a title and this is the most obvious target for it. The disambiguation page should be moved to God of War (disambiguation) per WP:PLURAL.
- Oppose. To many people the God of War is primarily the god of war (Mars (mythology) or Ares or Odin), not a routine videogame. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 05:25, 16 April 2018 (UTC)
- Please note that "God of war" as it is writen in the article on Mars is lowercase. He is a "god of war", the capital version is simply not used.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 08:29, 16 April 2018 (UTC)
- Support. There are not currently any mythological subjects on the disambiguation page. Anyone looking ancient deities is already being shortchanged. Nine Zulu queens (talk) 07:20, 16 April 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose - to this article being moved. As per the points by Anthony Appleyard. Also, speaking strictly video games, there are three different articles that are each "God of War". Each should have their disambiguation so that a reader knows where they're landing. --JDC808 ♫ 07:48, 16 April 2018 (UTC)
- @JDC808: Per WP:DIFFCAPS, there can be both a lowercase god of war to describe the mythological gods, and an uppercase God of War to name the video game series. Proper procedure is to give the series page the primary namespace and give any similarly named games their own disambiguation like they are now. Please see WP:NCVG#Media franchise and then reconsider your argument.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 08:29, 16 April 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose but not sure why the dab page is plural? gods of war redirects to list, god of war likewise, God of War singular maybe should be the dab? In ictu oculi (talk) 08:17, 16 April 2018 (UTC)
- If the franchise page is not moved then the disambiguation should definitely be moved to God of War instead. This isn't optimal but it's better than the current situation.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 08:31, 16 April 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose Something should be done here (probably Gods of War → God of War), but this franchise shouldn't be part of it since its named in reference to Ares, the Greek god of war. -- Netoholic @ 08:58, 16 April 2018 (UTC)
- @Netoholic: By that logic, Tomb Raider would conflict with Tomb raider. It doesn't. Similarly, God of War doesn't conflict with God of war.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 23:24, 16 April 2018 (UTC)
- References to Ares often use both forms - he is a god of war (among many in various cultures), but also the God of War within the Greek pantheon... an example that uses both. -- Netoholic @ 23:52, 16 April 2018 (UTC)
- I think the proof is in the pudding, in that the book uses the lowercase format in the prose itself, describing him as a "god of war". "Ares, God of War" is a title, and while I'd be fine with that redirecting to Ares, simply "God of War" has the primary topic of being the video game franchise.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 00:44, 17 April 2018 (UTC)

- Oppose, per discussion, too many candidates, and then there's Mars. Randy Kryn (talk) 10:28, 16 April 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose. When used as a title of a god it's usually capitalised. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:12, 18 April 2018 (UTC)
