File:Glenn Shadix actor.jpg Nominated for speedy Deletion

[edit]
An image used in this article, File:Glenn Shadix actor.jpg, has been nominated for speedy deletion at Wikimedia Commons for the following reason: Other speedy deletions
What should I do?

Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Commons Undeletion Request

Notability

[edit]

WP:NACTOR suggests he needs multiple significant roles in significant productions. I don't see it.... — Arthur Rubin (talk) 20:01, 24 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

WP:GNG is based on the references and overrides any niche guideline. A New York Times obituary is a defacto mark of notability. --RAN (talk) 03:53, 25 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I disagree with the claim that a New York Times obituary is an indication of notability, as
  1. Obituaries are generally held to a lesser standard of editorial review than announcements about living people, which, in turn, are held to lesser standards of editorial review than actual articles.
  2. An obituary may not amount to "significant coverage".
Arthur Rubin (talk) 21:43, 31 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
No, you're wrong, obits in the NYT are few and far between and to get one is, in itself, enough to warrant an article. That he has a substantial filmography to boot is simply reinforcement that he's notable enough. If you really believe this tag-fest, take it to WP:AFD, if not, stop disrupting the article to make your own singular and isolated point. The Rambling Man (talk) 21:48, 31 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, but your feelings are not Wikipedia policy. I would love to see your references for "obituaries are generally held to a lesser standard of editorial review". You can read about the New York Times obituary process, they are prepared years, even decades in advance, and continually updated. They currently have 1,900 prepared in advance. They are ready to go on the day of the death by just inserting the paragraph on the date and cause of death. Take it to AFD, I will even vote delete if you do. --RAN (talk) 21:53, 31 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Uploaded free image

[edit]

Hi, Richard. I uploaded File:Glenn Shadix DragonCon 2004- cropped.jpg as free use. May I switch the image please? Thanks. George Ho (talk) 22:06, 25 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You do not need to ask, the current image is terribly low resolution and has compression artifacts and it has that weird vertical stretch you see in some old digital photos when you migrate to a different format. --RAN (talk) 22:08, 25 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Cow and Chicken edit issue

[edit]

I've been trying to restore his Cow and Chicken voice credits that I deleted by mistake (as shown here:https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Glenn_Shadix&diff=935367734&oldid=935367696). But some how it won't let me restore it back, it keeps giving me this red bar with this error message that says: "An automated filter has identified this edit as potentially unconstructive, so it has been disallowed. If this edit is constructive, please report this error. Disruptive editing may result in a block from editing." for some unknown weird reason, not sure why though. I was only trying to fix it up until I mistakenly deleted it by accident. if someone can try to resolve this issue, that would be good. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1000:B034:5B54:8578:D721:AC2B:CB81 (talk) 04:23, 12 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
