Some thoughts
[edit]IIRC one reason why Senior Roundups stopped after 1966 was that the US government ceased providing substantial support (the BSA continued to receive support for their National Jamborees). However we would have to find supporting evidence. I've found evidence for support (e.g. HR9634 in 1964) but not for the cessation.
There are some interesting tidbits from google book searches. For instance at the 1959 roundup, George L. Brown, a Black Colorado state senator and newspaperman discussed human relations with the scouts.[1] What I wonder is the history behind that (remember this was when segregation was still common in many parts of the US)? In 1962 there was a 1 hour television program on the Roundup (CBS, September 24).
There seems to have been several Diamond Jubilee Roundups (Southern California also had one in 1987).[2]--Erp (talk) 04:06, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
