- The Scandinavian release date (May 19, 1993) is mentioned in the May 1993 issue of Nintendomagasinet, page 4. Published by Atlantic Förlags AB, in Swedish. This should be included.

Reception
[edit]- You should include information from the Swedish Nintendomagasinet "Power Play" review. I translated all critical information from it if you need it (the rest of the feature is just a description of the gameplay+premise): "Mr. Gimmick is quite reminiscent of Ufouria in terms of graphics, music, and gameplay. The game does not introduce anything new, but is still an all right platforming game. It is cute and easy to get into, and therefore perfect for younger Nintendo players." If you want to specify the page number in the citation, it's on page 7.

Electronic Gaming Monthly reviewed the game in their July 1992 issue, providing a release window of "2nd half" of 1992, although the release was canceled.

- @IDV:: Great thanks. I will get started on these edits. Also, I wanted to know your opinion on this: Should I change the article title to Mr. Gimmick and use the PAL box art? It's not technically an English release, but do you think that is the more common name and cover versus the Japanese? It was the title to be used for the North American release so I think it may be. - When in doubt, see what English RSs say - do they call it Mr. Gimmick or Gimmick? The Scandinavian release was quite limited, so I wouldn't be opposed to keeping the Japanese box art and title if we don't see a clear preference among English RSs.--IDVtalk 12:54, 18 February 2017 (UTC)

I did some minor, further fixes (the Nintendomagasinet source is technically two separate magazines, with the review one being included with purchases of the main magazine, so I changed the citation accordingly), but I'm happy to promote Gimmick! to GA now. "Downgrade"
[edit]Unlike its Japanese counterpart, this version features nine lives instead of four. The game also contains downgraded music due to the lack of an expanded sound channel chip.
Downgrade, is a pov term. It's entirely possible for someone to think the change is a positive one. I have heard that some people prefer to the audio for Castlevania III over the Famicom version. Though, most people consider it a downgrade. I'm not sure what to replace it with though. Harizotoh9 (talk) 17:49, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
- I don't think it's POV here because it is objectively a downgrade, the Famicom cart has a special chip that gives it more sound channels than the PAL version, meaning richer music. TarkusABtalk 18:06, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
